Spring Has Not Sprung

Today is the first day of Spring! Alleluia!  However, someone forgot to give Mother Nature the memo. Coming home from work this was the temp outside my car:
Looking out the front door, this was my scenery:
It was snowing fast and furious and the cold air was blowing fiercely! Even with that evidence that Winter weather was going to hang on for a bit, the signs of Spring are still around the Pines. Signs like these:
Crocus that come up even through snow.
Daffodils that are just ready to burst.
Lilac bushes with tiny buds.
Sedum that is fresh and green.
Azaleas showing off some color before blooming.
Beautiful, sweet, yummy strawberries picked fresh today....NOT! They're from Florida and my coworker Shay had bought them from another coworker's kiddo who was selling them as a fund raiser. I didn't know about it, or I would have bought some too! So pretty and they do look like Spring to me!
Even with all the signs pointing to a seasonal change, these dead leaves hang on until new ones can replace them.  The wind is blowing and the snow is falling but I do know that Winter has played out for a bit.

Ha! Ha! You almost got me with the strawberries!! ^_^ I was almost ready to head to the whispering pines!...because freshly picked strawberries would surely have meant that 'YOU' were the ones that stole Spring!! LOL...Phew!...All is still right with the world, and strawberries remain in FLORIDA!! LOL

For us yesterday was exactly like what you have today. Today we had 27 low and 39 high. What do you do?

Yep, we got the same thing going on here in MI. I almost thought you had the greenest thumb ever with those strawberries!!! I'm sure Spring will get here any minute now....

Looks pretty much like it does here, today. Except.. put a light white covering in place of all that spring growth and you've got a more accurate picture. Those berries look yummy!

It is sooo hard to imagine how different the weather is! I'm in NW Louisiana and our temps are in the 60's days, and low 40's nights. These just started this week. I'm bracing for 80-90's hi's soon! Spring is here! I'll be posting my gardens soon when in full bloom. Happy Spring!

Lucky you with having some signs of spring. Mother Nature has forsaken us it would seem.

We still have LOTS OF SNOW on the ground. I hope that there is some bare ground when I return home at Easter.

I need some signs of spring of my own.

Have a great spring week.
Hugs,
JB

You had me going with the strawberries! We actually had a warmer day than you! And rain instead of snow, but I'm sure we'll get another snow or two before spring is over.

My daughter in Massachusetts is SO SICK of snow! Tomorrow is her birthday and when she was born it was the first day of Spring that year. Loved your pictures. Crocus blooms are always some of my favorite harbingers of spring.

Oh YES, I am so ready for Spring! We haven't had much snow to speak of thank goodness, but cold dreary days just don't seem to want to end.

Wishing you sunshine and warmth!
Hugs~

I guess Mother Nature is trying to balance out last year's WARMest winter on record!

Soon, very soon, you'll be harvesting local strawberries, and your joy at such findings will be spilling on these pages.

I'm picking artichokes. Yes, artichokes are the first items we can harvest, outside of arugula and cabbage, and broccoli. My strawberries have tiny fruit......,

I really can't remember ever being tired of snow which tells you I haven't experienced the kind of winters you guys do. It's amazing to me that those plants are strong enough to stay alive. Ha! I haven't seen any strawberries that look that good. Yummy!! Hang in there. It can't last too much longer.

Hi, yaya! I want to thank you for subbing to my site. I welcome you, deeply appreciate your support, and am happy to follow your fine blog as well. I see that you live in "The World Headquarters of Nice People" and that Ashland is also on the fringe of the Amish community. I lived in Lancaster County, PA for several years which, as you probably know, is surrounded by the Amish. Springtime snow on budding flowers was a familiar sight to me during my youth in Penna. Right now I am up to my ears in Florida strawberries, many of which are grown a few miles from my home. I loved seeing those pictures of you through the years. If you don't mind me saying so, you were/are quite a beauty. Thank you again, dear friend, for choosing to learn about the Shady Dell and allowing me to share my music and memories with you. I am eager to explore your world, too.

Those strawberries look good. A nice fresh strawberry shortcake in front of a bundle of daffodils would be nice.
Wet snow flurries here too. Spring is toying with us, making us wait.

It's snowing in Britain too, everywhere that isn't flooded. Our daffodils are out, but have a sprinkling of snow and they look as miserable as flowers can!

Love all your pics of the plants that are ready to burst for you to enjoy.
