It's here! Finally! Spring! I'm not too excited am I? These are the only things blooming right now. I see little green shoots coming from day lilies, hostas and daffadils all over the Pines and I know in a few weeks we'll be enjoying them. I also know snow can come and give us a spring shock, but all in all it's been a great week with warmer temps, sunny days and even though I was bit by a spider outside, it's still means that winter is heading out of town!
Ok, now for the weird and curious..Jack found these bones in the back near the woods...hmmmm...I wonder what was chomping on them..who they belonged to...what they belonged to. Not that I'm creeped out by the fact that something was knawing on big bones in my very yard while I slept. I know my anatomy and it looks like a femur, only it's very short. If you see a gnome with only one leg, let me know OK?
After Thanksgiving we threw our cornstalks, that had been up since October, into a burn pile that will happen here soon. It was fun to see that the critters enjoyed every corn kernal on all those stalks! Hope it made this long, snowy and cold winter just a bit easier for them.
As I was clomping through the Creepy Woods I had to stop and click a pic of this tree that stood out among the bare trees and dead wood. It's white leaves are a pleasant surprise that just stood out and looked so peaceful in this setting.
The stark beauty of winter fading will soon lead to green and lush, but for now I'll be satisfied with this final reminder that nature can always suprise us with it's quiet beauty.

My bulbs are popping to. I'm looking forward to the tulips.
Well we are still snow covered and nothing coming up. Not sure what the bones are to but if I see that gnome I will let you know. that tree though is a beech tree. they only lose their leaves when the new ones start coming out. They make a cool sound in the winter wind. We have a lot of them.
Happy Spring!
Cathy
Umm, a chewed up femur.....from the creepy woods....? Sleep with one eye open and the lights on. Lol. But did snort out loud picturing a one legged gnome hopping out of the creepy woods.
There is, I think, a certain beauty when nature is still stark looking, but with that hint of new life about to burst.
Lovely photographs!
I was excited to see the crocuses coming up too! Yours look pretty!
The bones are curious....no thoughts or imagination here...hmmmm. I think Kim said it best..ha!
The beech trees are so lacy, I saw some yesterday driving and thought maybe crab trees were starting to bloom. Well, they will soon. I just heard we may get snow Thurs-Fri....yuck! It'll be short lived though, this time of the year. Great post for hoping things will get better!
so glad that spring is headed your way! Maybe we should do an anti-snow
dance???? Yours is the second post I have read today about bones!!!!!
wow.....
I still have no bloomers here in our frost holler but some of my annuals are beginning to push their little sprouts through the earth.
Love your pics girl!!
God bless ya and enjoy this beautiful spring day! :o)
YAY! You're showing the signs of Spring!!! Pretty flowers, but the bones?!....UH.....YIKES!! I'd be calling the mobile C.S.I. team or something!! {I never watch that show, but I know what it's about!! LOL} And good for you recognizing the femur...That means you looked at it! ^_^ I'd be running!!!...Have a good day in the little sunshine you still have! :-)
no chance about crocus' growing here right now. :( we have way too much snow but the good thing is the snow will not last and sometime in the next couple months i should be able to plant my sweet pea's!
I love your post. interesting about those bones.
take care!
I'm excited for spring too! Our grass is finally getting green...still a little cold out though. Pretty creepy about the bones!! LOVE your humor!
You are so lucky. You are seeing some blooming going on. We had so much snow that me and some other motorists were stranded on 9W going south on Storm King mountain yesterday.
That's the wonderful thing about living where there are actual seasons - each season's harbingers are so exciting! Lovely pictures, except the bones. Every figure out what they are? I hope you see lots of colorful flowers everywhere very soon!
Check your email. :)
It is so wonderful to see the spring flowers finally making their debut! SPRING - just saying the word makes me feel happy!

Hooray for spring! I love the pics of the white leaves - which look like feathers.
OH no...I lost my comment! Ah well, I was just telling you that I sleep with little lights all over my house and always have.
A little one legged gnome? No, but I will let you know should I see one hobbling down the street.
We planted three which birch tree's this past year...but how beautiful it must have been to come upon a tree with winter white leaves!
Lovely photos...I so like those white leaves, and had a good giggle at your gnome bones!
