Ice Age...Don't Leave The Camera

The arrival of sun meant that the ice was slowly..emphasis on slowly..melting. To give it a hand and get it off some of the driveway, Jack and our son Jack(ie) chopped and scraped and pushed and shoveled this mess up off the concrete.
They tried to make a dent in this...that's all ice baby!
I took advantage of the sun and grabbed a book, a chair and soaked up some vitamin D. That is until the wind picked up and forced me inside. But not after I watched and even helped a bit, to get that ice under control.
Thanks for helping the old folks out Jackie.
Remember the Robins from a previous post? I don't think they'll be stopping here for a bath any time soon.
Now, because my life isn't exciting enough, I decided I really needed to go to Wal-Mart tonight. While getting ready to leave I noticed my camera on the table. My son had already accused me of being like the paparazzi. Snapping pics left and right. So I decided to leave it behind. Why would I need it at Wal-Mart? I know many pictures of weirdos shopping there show up on the Internet daily, but I like to really just ignore them shopping in their PJs. By the way, when did that become acceptable dress attire for shopping anyway? Well, never mind that. I get to the store and it's dark inside..no lights in the middle section at all. That does not deter any shopper in that store, including me. I just wished I had taken that camera! I'm a blogger for crying out loud. I lead a very boring life too, so every chance I get to blog about something out of the ordinary, with pics included, is grabbed. I hurry and get my items and I run into my little friend Jan. She's a retired nurse that I used to work with who now works at Wally world. She loves it too! She's been there for many years and wouldn't think of missing a day. She's 80yrs. old and you can always find her stocking shelves, laughing (or maybe flirting?) with the customers and just having a good ol' time. She informed me that the whole store had to be evacuated about an hour before I got there because it smelled like a fire, then the lights went out. See, I miss all the exciting things. But you know what's creepier than shopping in the dark? Or wondering about how many people were actually stuffing their pockets with merchandise in the dark? It's walking out to your car in the dark..no parking lot lights, wondering why you parked in the nether regions of the lot. See, those creepy PJ wearing nut cases look even creepier walking behind you with their slippers on. I hurried and got home to safety, warmth and a fresh apple pie thrown in the oven. Let the weekend begin.

reminds me...did you hear the story the girls were telling last week about Jan seeing a shoplifter, a big guy, take 3 Bissel carpet cleaners out through the garden shop and out to his truck? She followed him and hollered at him "Stop and drop that!" He didn't. The next day they saw 3 Bissel Carpet Cleaners on Craig's list for sale...new!

We have a lot of ice chipping to do too. Kyle made a small dent, but that's it!

Kota was one of those in PJs and slipper people yesterday. I couldn't get the kid to put on jeans before I left, and sometimes I just pick my battles....

The kids in this town wear 100.00 slippers in the snow now what the H---? Ugg slippers I thought I might get a pair until I saw the price and then forget it wool socks are fine. I hate walmart but I go there never to just shop when I need something in and out. We have the snow but no ice at this point. But I love pie!
stay warm

I have to say, I think Walmart is just creepy, period. At least the one by my house. Do you have Target where you live? I like them better. Hope your ice melts soon, but how nice to get a little bit of sun! And did someone say "apple pie?" I wish we were neighbors...

Walmart is a necessary evil. Just get in, get the stuff, get out. No need to visit with anyone, I say. However, some of my best friends hang out at Walmart.

I love that you sat outside and read surrounded by snow and ice!

I couldn't help but laugh at your comments about the PJ-clad Wal-Mart shoppers. We have them here too. It just is beyond me why they think anyone wants to see them dressed that way...and their big old fuzzy slippers shaped like some animal to boot! Can't believe all that ice...do be careful! South GA gets mighty hot in the summer but I'm glad I don't live where there is lots of ice and snow!

We don't have a Walmart near us, but there is a great one near my mom that I love to visit. I hear some are kinda creepy, though.

That ice of yours is kinda creepy to me, too. I remember the black ice problem from when I lived in Utah going to college. I slipped more than once...

what an adventure!! I can attest to all the weirdos at that walmart (and pretty much every walmart, that store must attract them, why is it so different at Target??).
