Good-bye Winter...Hello Spring. Today is the final day of Winter. I can't believe it, probably because we had such a warm and mild one it didn't feel like a pain in the bum like last year! I think we will be a bit sorry though. Without a long freezing time the bugs will emerge in droves. Ying and yang in all things. Even though it's not officially Spring, my yard has been acting like April for a few weeks. The flowers, like this daffodil, are trying to give a nice show. We've had a ton of rain also that makes my yard a soggy mess. But I'll just have to enjoy this weather and hope we don't sizzle come July!
The Creepy Woods is starting to take a new green shade. Soon it will be mushroom hunting. With the warm weather and rain we've been having, it should be a good year!
The daylilies are up..present and accounted for!
One of my favorite flowers is getting it's green leaves and blooms..the lilac bush. I have about 5 of them and hopefully they will do well blooming this early.
My magnolia tree thinks it's time to bloom. I bet by the middle of this week it will be in full pink glory.
Another sign that Spring is arriving...Critters! We see deer all year but these two were just hanging out in the Creepy Woods together..perhaps they have Spring fever? Can you see them? They saw me and soon took off.
Speaking of critters...Here's one that we don't see all the time. In fact there were two of them but I only had time to click a pic of one before they took off. Relax there big fella...I said we're celebrating Spring tomorrow..not Thanksgiving!

I see the Daffodil, the Turkey, the squirrel and other signs of Spring, but not the dears. With my eyes, I probably would see one even if there aren't any.
Happy Spring !
We saw a Robin last week !

Yep!...Spring came before winter left!...I'm alright with that...I think!...*looking left and right*...What's next?...Locusts?!
Your yard looks wonderful. I am happy to say good-bye to winter.
Hello spring.
Cathy
I'm loving this spring weather. I love watching the wildlife and flora and fauna "spring" up! Have a happy week.
Love this spring stuff! I saw your deer too! I saw a bunch of birds in my yard tonight, no turkey though. More rain will bring out the ground hogs too!
Spring is in the air, huh? Hugs
I LOVE your Creepy Woods - so many things to see! You'll have to take a picture of your tree when it's in full bloom AND your lilac bush. Lilacs are very hard to grow here and I love them. Your yard is looking good!
Oh it feels so wonderful to see things greening up again. We are still lagging behind here but today I saw signs that some of my tulips are peeking out of the ground in one of my raised bed in the back and some daffodils are getting ready to bloom. No lilacs yet.
We hear lots of birds around and they are chirping up a storm but I haven't seen any wild life yet although a family friend saw a deer and a little fawn near his house this morning.
It feels great to have the warm temperatures. Hopefully the snow will all be gone in a couple of days.
Yeah, I'm worried about the mosquitoes as there's a swamp not very far from our place.
Have a great week. JB
Lilacs are my favorite. The smell takes me back to my grandma's yard when I was little. I had a huge lilac bush in our old house...but not at this house....I think I need one!
Your yard always looks so inviting to me. Just love that place!
And I had forgotten it was the first day of Spring!
=)
We too have had a "too mild" winter! Everything...and I mean everything...is in full bloom. It worries me so that we will have a blistering hot summer here in south GA...as if the last two haven't been off the charts. Much hotter this year and we are all going to just melt away. I do hate HEAT!!! If my turkey-hunting hubby had seen this turkey in his yard, he probably would have grabbed the gun and we would have had a turkey dinner.
Honestly Kathy, you have the most beautiful yard. I absolutely adore daffodils and the other flowes you have growing are making me almost jealous. I wish, for instance, that I could have a lovely magnolia tree in my yard, and as for lilac bushes, oh my, I haven't even seen any lilacs for years anywhere we've been. We used to have a huge lilac tree in my front yard as I was growing up and I loved that so much. I can remember seeing one of the few pictures of me when I was just a baby, sitting out there by the lilac tree. They just smell so heavenly. If I never see another lilac, I will remember the fragrance of those blooms until the day I die.
I did see the deer in your creepy woods and the woods themselves are really getting green. I just can't imagine your being able to go out there and pick mushrooms. Wow! what a great bonus. I love to cook with mushrooms or just eat them sauted in butter and piled high on toast. They are so outrageously expensive here that I don't use them nearly as often as I used to.
Buh-bye, winter! Hello ... bugs?
I like spring. I do. I like the temperatures - as long as it doesn't get above 65. I like the fashion. I like the sun - except for the buggies coming out to play.
...
Maybe I don't like spring so much, after all.
