Yesterday/Today
Yesterday we had the most beautiful day. I was home being lazy and enjoying the sunshine and the still green grass. We hadn't had any snow yet.....then...wham!
The driveway was a bit different today when I came home from work.
Yesterday the bright, clear, not a cloud in sight day was a nice contrast to the deep green of the pines and bright green of the grass.
Today: The dark green pines are being frosted by God's big white flakes!
Yesterday the green of the backyard was Eddy's playground.
Today Ed will do his "duty" quickly!
As this year quickly draws to a close I'm getting ready to finish up my final posts for 2011. Then it all goes into a blog book. I've gone back and read some previous posts from January and on and I'm always surprised at what pops up and I'm always glad I have these journals to pass to my kids someday. Maybe they will remember many of the things that we did. The photos will help. I received a new camera this year from Jack to help me continue in my blogging and capturing of our simple little life. Just as the weather has changed in an instant I know life does too. I'm grateful for our blessings, I'm grateful for the trials we've had to overcome this year too. While reading my past posts I also reread the many nice comments from my family and from people I've never met, yet I'm always calling them "friends"...I guess that will always be the biggest surprise to me. The great people I've come to know through their blogs and from comments left on mine. I will miss my friend Bernie who passed away this September. Although we never met in person I feel like I knew her well. Life is contrasts of yesterday and today...enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, but do try to find the beauty in the black and white of winter.

Oh, yaya...thank you so much for visiting my long-lost blog. I love the advice you gave me. I think I burned out because I was trying to do too much. I love that you reminded me about why you blog...for keeping a journal for your family. I need to keep that in mind. I also want to try to get the blog book thing done. Last year you told me about it but now I've forgotten how you told me you did it. When you have a moment would you either email me or comment on my blog with some details. My son has a blog too and I think I might like to get a book done for him too. I think he would like that! Love that you had snow! Of course, here in GA we get so very little (and only every few years or so) that it's fun when we do get it. We would probably not be so excited if we had to deal with it a lot. Here's wishing you and yours the most blessed year ever in 2012.
I think the blog books will be treasures someday. Imagine having them from a grandmother or great-grandmother and really getting a feel for her personality and lifestyle.
That's reason enough to blog right there!
=)
PS. Loved your before and after snow shots...
Soon my friend there will be no books. Your family will be so happy to have these posts.
happy new year to you and your family
Cathy
Really enjoyed this one yaya. You can find the sunshine in the bleakest setting. I'm sorry that you had so many trials this year and hope that there's fewer in the new year. And, as always, I LOVE your snow.

It changed that quickly over the course of your shift? Crazy! I went to bed to rain last night, and I woke up to an inch of snow this morning. I was so excited when I looked out the window that I jumped out of bed!

Yep, typical Ohio weather! :) Thanks for that beautiful thought at the end of the post.
The contrasts between one day and the next were so dramatic. It's hard to believe that there could be such a big change. I suppose you will have a lot of winter yet. Some of those pictures almost looked like spring though.
I don't even know where this past year has gone. I think it is so neat that you are going to put this past years blogs into a book. That is what Sue does every so often and she has some wonderful hard cover books for her children to enjoy and to pass down to her grandchildren. That is the only reason I do blog. It does leave a history.
What a nice post, Yaya! And what a contrast from yesterday to....YIKES! That white stuff falls quickly, doesn't it?! ^_^ I'd love some info on the blog book. I think I saw something about that a while ago, but it didn't phase me back when I hardly knew what I was doing. Now I'm interested! LOL Where do you get them done? And how much did it cost?!
What a surprise!
This year brings such presents almost every day.
And here, in the centre of Russia, we have rain instead of thick snow on the eve ov the new year!
The post is very nice, thank you, Yaya.
I'm looking forward to printing the blog book too. I'm trying to decide to do another post or not.
Thank you for all your warm advice and laugh out loud comments through the year.
I am so glad to know you in person and in blog land.
Thank you for literally bearing my burden this year. I have learned so much since the weight has been removed, much more than when I was engaged. I'm not sure why that had to be, but it has come to pass in the way.
Let me know what I can do you assist you, because I know the heavy load and the heart and headaches it brings.
I love you, thanks for being a gospel mother to me. I need it!
I think your contrasts of the weather are like that in life...one day great and the next, storms on the horizon by way of problems. Its just life, I guess. As you know, mine certainly has gone that way, and I have a new one today! Friends from many places are a wonderful help in getting you through all of it.
Blog books are on sale right now by the way.
greeting from Malaysia =)
HAPPY NEW YEAR YAYA! I wish you and your family the best of everything in the New Year!
HAPPY NEW YEAR YAYA! I wish you and your family the best of everything in the New Year!
I'm always surprised at how quickly the weather can change in your neck of the (creepy) woods. It sure is beautiful though!
my dreams when i was child is to celebrate 'the down of snow' bcoz its not here ^^
YaYa, I loved the contrast and was a wee bit jealous that we haven't seen a flake of snow this year, in fact, we're having our warmest December ever!
I truly count you as a friend, even though we've never met. I have been so appreciative of your wonderful support through your comments on my blog.
I didn't know about the blog books. I think I will look into that, too!
Happy New Year!
Wow - what a difference a day makes!!
I love the idea of your blog book - that will be a wonderful memento for you and your family. Be sure to show us pictures of it when it is finished.
