Jam and Bean

My raspberries are about done producing. This is the first year we've gotten a crop and I had enough to do 2 batches of jam..it's pretty yummy if I do say so myself..and I do! Now the green beans are coming on...I have a ton more on the bushes and tomorrow I'll be picking and probably freezing them. I haven't canned beans in years, but maybe I'll get brave and try that this year..so many projects, so little time.

Oh yum! I've been having my husband pick the raspberries, then freezing them. Not my favorite method for making jam, but I'm just not up to standing over the stove to cook it yet. But, I will get at least two batches done before school starts, I hope!
Our beans are just starting, only two small pickings so far. I haven't canned them in years, either, and probably won't this year. But, they're awful good frozen, and quick to do! I used to make pickled green beans, but probably won't do that either.
Have fun!

The jam looks great. My favorite way to use Raspberry Jam is on pancakes. My kids refuse to eat home canned green beans. I'm not sure why so I would freeze them and Kota would eat them. :)

Good luck with the projects.

Do you know that I have never made any jam, jelly, or canned anything in my whole life? I never lived where I could have a garden of my own. We did try to grow some tomatoes one year but they were terrible! Neither Dick nor I can garden. My allergies get to me and I break out all over my hands and arms. No, I never tried to use gloves. I just can't get interested in gardening. When I was a little girl, I remember my dad having a pretty large garden on a vacant lot in our neighborhood. My mom has always canned a lot of everything and I used to hate when she would send me down the basement to the room she had her canned stuff in. It was dark and had spiders in it. It always gave me the willies to have to go down to the "fruit cellar" which is what she called it.

Having said that, I did help her with the preparation and that always seemed so tedious, but oh that canned stuff tasted so much better that the stuff out of a can that you buy at the store.

Anyway, I am impressed with your efforts. I'll bet that jam tastes wonderful. I wish I had some right now.

Raspberries and green beans: two of my favorite things. I realize they're in totally different categories, but both are so lovely when you can use them fresh from the garden.

Yummy ! That jam looks so wholesome. You know the ingredients too1! (unlike the store bought one). I bet you feel great. Natures's bounty in your yard. You should be proud yourself. I wish I had an award for you. Having a full time job, taking care of family and also gardening. Wow:)
