Dr. Part Dieux

Just a quick note about the doctor visit. I did get there a little early..half an hour..and the only paper I had to fill out was my check. I only had to wait about 20min. and then the fun began. She was very nice. She was very thorough. She had a nice BMI chart. Yes, she did mention Weight Watchers. But she did it without actually saying I needed to go. Very good tactic. I have a good heartbeat, foot pulses, she said my tonsils are big for my age. Well, that figures doesn't it? I think I might be big for my age! When she was done she dictates on her little machine and I had to listen along so I could object, change, or sit there like I did not saying a word. It was weird to listen to someone describing you like a science experiment..."A very pleasant, well nourished, Caucasian woman...blah, blah, blah..." I know this sounds like I've never been to a doctor before. I've had 3 different ones in the last 3yrs and each time it's a whole new ball game. Now all I have to do is sit back and wait and see if I make her leave her practice like the others all did...I Think I'm getting a complex!

Weight Watchers has worked for my daughter. If you are not the person who need to have a support system, you can very well do every thing on your own . I think that if anyone wants to loose weight it should not be for looks but for health reasons. Our family learned this after my husbands CABG.

Hope you can hang on to this doc for awhile!

So glad the experience was better than the build-up. I'm guessing it's the current condition of the medical field in general, and not you specifically, chasing all these docs away.

Oh, how funny! Let us know how it all ends.

Too funny! I'm sitting here in dr.b's office giggling. Thanks. You're right. It does feel weird to hear your own dictation. Like listening to a sermon about you. But I like her and hope she lasts a long while too! Shes younger than us, she should!

It's always a crap shoot starting with a new doc. But it sounds like she came recommended so you should do well. I have large tonsils also. What does that say about us?

I can't say I've ever had a Dr. dictate with me in the room...that would be creepy.

I hope you keep her too.

Don't you just hate to go to a new doctor? I am surprised you didn't have to fill out one of those long forms telling about every thing that was ever wrong with you and all the meds you are on, the ones you are allergic to and on and on. It does sound as if she was thorough once you got in though.

Dick and I both need to lose weight too and we are trying, but something always comes up to sabotage the whole thing. We are keeping up with our pool exercises and they help us to keep from gaining more. Years and years ago Weight Watcher really worked for us. Sue went with us (I'm not sure why because she was pregnant and I didn't think she had a weight problem. She once stood up in front of the class and said, "If you are really careful and do everything right, one day you can look like me." and she turned her body to show her lovely tummy. She has always had a funny sense of humor, that one.)

I used to have a doctor who dictated like that into his machine. It was a bit weird, but he was too. He actually told me that he coudn't help me. I had too many allergies. He was a rheumatalogist.

I'm back blogging again. by the way.

Love your name Yaya, my granddaughter calls me Yaya...she's almost 4 and my grandson is almost 18 months. We don't know where she got the word from, she started saying the word in reference to me when she started talking. (It just occurred to me that grandma could become Yaya!)

I moved in the fall and had to find a new doctor, I like the one I found. No recommendation she was found on the internet and works for a clinic connected with a hospital. Just got lab work done and whoops my LDL (bad cholesterol) is higher than the last lab work where I used to live. I don't want to take cholesterol meds...so I'm hoping she can give me some pointers on things to try before going the med route. I do try very hard to eat healthy but I know I don't exercise enough (honestly, not at all). And I haven't been using my Omega 3 capsules, eating my oatmeal or getting enough sleep. So I hope your doctor will suggests ways to help you with your weight loss. I join your friends in offering my support.

I got a letter in the mail today from my doctor saying that he was leaving. No explanation, no forwarding address.
I wondered if it was something I said. I did mention him (not by name) in one of my columns about healthcare. I thought it was funny, but he might have taken issue with it.
So, the search is on for Jilda and me.

Ah you make me laugh. I can quite understand the heart beat - with such a good heart! Good for you to still have tonsils - wish I still had mine and as a tardy visitor of late due to work commitments may I say how magnificent your new header photo is - what a glorious tree! I've just started a "from the beginning" on Merrilyn the kangaroo that I think you will enjoy. Good to be back in touch.

My mum did weight watchers and it worked really well for her! I like food too much and I figure the day my metabolism slows down I'm going to balloon out but until then... chocolate! Glad it went well though. I've recently been considering the medical field as well because I was offered a nursing scholarship through the military (because I'm too compassionate to be a weather lady) so I guess we'll see! Enjoy your easter weekend x

Glad your appt. went well...I was laughing when you said your new doctor is a former fatty! I've never been to a doctor that does the dictation right in front of the patient!
Happy Easter!
