Sugar High

Some of my blogging friends are giving up sugar for Lent. Hmmmm....good idea! I can do that! What a great way to observe this time of year...sacrifice for something better..spiritual insight...healthy body. Yes, I'm with you! Then I see this lovely display at break time this morning. Now, to be honest, the cake is my fault. One of my co-workers has a birthday today so I brought the cake. The rest of this is just the devil taking over! I was strong and left it alone and I know tomorrow it will be gone and I doubt we'll have anything there to replace it. So I'm not going to make any more cakes because I think it either spawned all the other junk, or it attracted it in there somehow. Evil brings in evil. Cake brings cookies...cookies bring donuts..you get the picture.

Evil does bring evil. I discovered this yesterday with chocolate, then fudge, then hot chocolate. It's like a conspiracy!

You did well to resist temptation! Very well!

Do you find it easier to say no at work than at home? I do! Keep fighting the good fight.

We've given up sugar because we feel better without it, though, if someone made a real rule around here, we'll both balk.

Oh my gosh, I am so proud of you. What good discipline! I haven't had too much of a hard time, but my poor hubby is going crazy. He is so used to snacking all day, not much, just some little thing like a piece of candy, nuts etc. I guess I should take a little bit of the blame for this because I leave them out. The wrapped candy goes in the most BEAUTIFUL bowl (large) that I keep on my coffee table. For some reason, it doesn't bother me To me it is just part of the decor.

I ate cake today. Actually, it was almost all I ate, because I didn't have a chance to eat any meals except breakfast. I hope carrot cake counts more as vegetable than cake... no? Oh dear.

You are so funny with the evil. I wish I gave up something. I am still on an eating high from vacation.

I think cake DOES have little donut children who in turn breed cookies! This whole week has been like that! Everyone at work feels sorry for us poor laid off ladies and they keep bringing us sweet offerings. How do you say no?

I'm Baptist and we don't give up things for Lent...at least I've never known any of us to do so. But if we had to I doubt I could give up sugar without have the DTs!!! Maybe I could give up spinach or brussel sprouts????
