This morning I was looking out my window and smiling because of the sunshine. I wasn't fooled into thinking it was warm...1de. was the temperature..Brrrr..But it was nice to see light and blue sky! Then I noticed the tree was loaded with these little creatures. Robins!! Many Robins! Growing up a Robin was suppose to be the first sign of Spring. Jack kindly informed me that many species of birds do winter over and don't fly south. Yes, I know that, but can't a frozen girl dream of warmer days? Of singing birds? When I went outside to take these pics I realized what was going on.
This is the reason why this tree outside my diningroom window was covered with birds..the tastey crabapples that were still left from this summer. How clever of Mother Nature to leave a snack for them on these very cold and snowy days of winter.
Well, enjoy yourselves little birds..eat all those freeze dried crabapples..and maybe next time I find a whole flock of Robins it will be spring!!! Please!! P.S...If I should leave my car in the driveway next to that tree, please watch where you leave the fruit when you're done..if you get my drift.

Robbins! Spring cannot be too far behind. We're having warmer and drier days, and are ready for spring.
I always thought robins were a sign of spring too...no spring day here!
When I let Scoob outside this morning, I noticed it too...they were singing...a sure sign that spring is about........12 weeks AWAY!!!!
Glad you can still feed them, poor things! Monday and Tuesday in the parking lot this week they "got" my car...almost same spots and I washed it both times. I was starting to wonder if it had a target on top! Wednesday it was covered with ICE!! Mother Nature again....Hmmm!
That is beautiful and yes nature is an absolutely amazing thing. I love to sit in my contemplation corner and just watch the birds, it is one of the most peaceful things. Does that mean that autumn is around the corner for us........... Yeah.........
I so wish it were spring myself even though I don't have it near as rough as you do there.
It is wonderful that they found some food.

it is so nice to see the birds I haven't seen any robins here but the bird feeder is busy. I know what you mean about birds and cars ewwwwe.we are 8F and headed lower today.

We had a bunch of robins in our yard earlier this week also. Yet it's been colder here than normal! Nature is a wonder!

We had a bunch of robins fly down here for winter. They polka dotted Josh's truck in his driveway and they are eating all the rye seeds out of the horse pastures at my house!
Birds are funny creatures! I can't wait til we get some birds back around here so I can take some bird pictures!!
Wonderful pictures. Robins mate and nest pretty early in the season, so they're gathering now. I heard my first one off in the distance yesterday. The first day they gather in my yard will be a day to celebrate.
I'm back again here, too, to respond to your last comment about living 15 min. from my sister! Yes, small world. Louise (that's my late sister) has a daughter in Naperville still, with her husband and six children. They know they'll have to come to Virginia now to see me! I miss Naperville, though. Feel sad that my daughter and I won't be taking anymore trips to it. Really a beautiful place, and listed on some lists as the #1 place to raise a family.
