Sad? Or Glad?

Saturday was a "sad" to "glad" kind of day. The blow up of my oatmeal in the microwave first thing in the morning might make a person sad. Jack thought it was funny and needed to be a "blog moment". So to make him glad I snapped a pic. Then I cleaned up the mess..ate some oatmeal with cinnamon and fresh blueberries and realized I was now glad!
I didn't get any pics of "raindrops on roses" this morning...just raindrops on sage leaves. Waking up on a Saturday morning to lots of misty, cool rain could make you sad but I was glad and so were my plants to have had a nice soaking the last few days. I seriously thought I could hear the grass clapping for joy.
My car thermometer at 12:45pm said 62de...That could make you sad. Not me! I was glad for the relief from the heat we've had this summer. Most of the country has had heat and drought and the cool rainy day was so nice. The cool sunny day today is just as nice!
This sight makes me sad. A kitchen full of chaos. Jack always says when I cook I use every pan and bowl in the place. And he's right! In our Relief Society we were asked to make compassionate service meals to be frozen until a need arises. I made a batch of cheese stuffed pasta shells to be divided up in 2 person serving sizes. No matter the mess I make, Jack knows I always clean it up. 99% of the time anyway!
All's well that ends well...glad I finished an assignment...glad the kitchen is back in order....glad to go to bed!

We cook the same way. I can fill the entire counter with a mess, just having cereal! Lol. It's a skill.
Thank Jack for he blog moment. I had a giggle.

Our Microwave Owen blows the fuse off of the entire kitchen if we set it to less than 100 mts. When we first bought it I thought that it could be because it was from Walmart. I would never know why this happens and I could not care less, because it was a great deal.
Your post inspired me to share a thing or two.
Cool is certainly a good time this time of the year. The coolest we had was seventy degrees on Wed. morning.

Ugh--- I hate when my oatmeal explodes-- especially when it happens at work!!

Well- happy to see that someone else makes a messy kitchen-- I bet there's some great food that comes from that mess though!!

I need to know how to make oatmeal in the microwave. I love it.

I was glad for the break in weather too, just a bit sad to sit out in the ran to watch soccer for 4 hours. I was so cold.

Although I'd rather be cold than hot. It's easier to warm up than cool down I think.

Good to see you today and talk. Glad you are my VT. Its going to be fun.

Oh, I love the picture of the oatmeal mess...
The oatmeal blowing up in the microwave has happened to me before so now I use what I call my Jethro Bodine bowl. Remember Jethro Bodine of The Beverly Hillbillies TV series, ages ago... It's a huge bowl and I've never had the oatmeal escape the bowl again.

I love how you roll with the good and the bad that happens during the day.

Great picture of the rain on the sage leaves. Just so beautiful.

Hugs

I am so jealous of your weather. It has been a bit cooler here, too. I think it was in the 80s and 90s all weekend -- much better than the 100-degree temperature we have been struggling with all summer. No, thanks!
I made cookies explode in the oven once. I didn't know you were supposed to ice the cookies AFTER baking them, so I put the icing on before. Big mistake. They exploded.

it's always good to see the sunny side of things when they go bad! I always thought a messy kitchen was the sign of a great cook...sounds/looks like you are a great cook! Thanks for sharing..;j

I like your RS's idea to be prepared with meals in advance. I think I'll do that!

Lovely oatmeal mess in the micro! Don't you just hate when that happens? I hate to clean the microwave more than anything in my kitchen. Probably because My arms are not long enough to reach the tops, sides or the back, so Dick always has to help me finish as I am afraid to stand on a stool anymore. Don't know why I get so dizzy when I do that.

I love the look of rain on your sage leaves. We had one good rain storm and we really needed it. We seem to get a lot of clouds in August from the monsoons in Arizona, but unfortunately they don't drop much rain. I am hoping we will have at least one more good rain before we leave. I remember 40 years ago it rained on our wedding day! But we were living in the San Fernando Valley in Granada Hills, instead of the desert.

I'm with you, kid. I make the biggest messes when I cook (and so does Dick) but I don't mind cleaning them up. It just takes me forever because I have to keep sitting down. I can only stand on my feet for about 3 or 4 minutes. My daughter, Nancy, keeps telling me I need to get a drafting chair so that I can sit up high enough to cook and clean up and then I could just roll myself around the kitchen. It sounds nice but I can't seem to find any locally to try out. I guess I'll have to get one online, but I sorta hate to invest the money if it won't be so great for me.

Whenever I cook, I make a lot so that we can freeze a few meals for those days when neither of us feel like cooking and it is wonderful!!

So true that the nice part of making a mess is how good it looks by comparison later. Great idea to have meals prepared in case of need.

LOL I miss my kitchen counter tops because I cook the same way. Now with this tiny farm kitchen you should see how I try to cook.
Glad you weren't sad for long and you got some much needed rain. My yard and plants would be doing a happy dance if we got some rain.
Always love coming by and checking on you.
Have a great weekend

Yuck! Blown up oatmeal. I make a mess when I cook too. Even trying to clean as I go, it still makes a mess. Glad you got it all cleaned up. Great thing to do for other people.
And 62 suits me just fine!
