I can't believe week has gone by since my last post. It was a busy week as usual. Here are a few snipets. No, I did not go off and join the circus! These are the tents in the hospital parking lot where we had our annual summer lunch picnic. The hospital gives us a free picnic lunch every August. I didn't have my camera with me so Jack dropped it off for me. I had already eaten so no pics of food, or people. I just snapped the cool looking tents that I thought would look great here at home..I have tent envy!
Thursday we had our woman's meeting at Church. The Relief Society asked us to bring 3 things in a bag that would give a story of us. Since we are getting to know the newest members better it was a fun discovery. I found out things about people I thought I knew well. It was very fun. Here was Deb looking wistful as we tried to guess what she had brought. I found out we have many artists, writers, and even a black belt in karate!
When it was my turn of course I had my camera! I love how we react when getting snapped. Just look at the young lady in the back with her hands over her face. Why are we so sensitive? Well, if you're like me you don't like the "true" image that is reflected...every winkle, bulge, double chin and any imperfection shows up. I used to really be camera shy. But now I realize this is me and I don't want to go through life without anyone knowing I was even here! I don't want pics of my family not to include me. I'll still think in my brain that I'm good to go..but when I see the snapshot I will still smile and think that I'm really OK....sort of. Ha!
I've been taking photos all year at work to put together for a video I'm doing for operating room nurse week in November. Everyone has been wondering why I'm always clicking a pic here and there. Many times they are very camera shy. I think they will be surprised at the moments I've captured. Sometimes we need to be reminded that we do love our jobs! But a work pic without this pic would be incomplete. The almighty "locker room" shot. We have the smallest locker room ever. It even has two bathroom stalls in there! We have to dress in hospital laundered scrubs so we all cram in there in the morning trying to dress without knocking the person across from your locker into theirs! Fun times! We are not shy people either!
Can you tell Donna's locker from mine? Everyone has their most valuable possessions featured on the front...pics of family and pets!
No video about my workplace would be complete without a shot of what goes on after the patient leaves for recovery. Yes, those tables, lights and floors all need cleaned. Each and every time we all pitch in and help. I always say that the mop has a universal handle..it fits everyone's hands! We've even had a Doc or two grab one and mop up. Thanks Rhonda for not being camera shy!
Now here is someone not camera shy. Dr. B is always commenting about my blogging and challenging me to include him. No problem...you ask, I snap! Is this your best side?
Nah, I think this is his best side..wouldn't you want him to fix your knees..hips...shoulders...? You name the bone, he can fix it or replace it! We are very lucky to have such a good orthopod here in our small hospital. (His partner is very good too) We are rated one of the top hospitals in Ohio in joint replacement. No brag...just fact!

What a fun way to get to know people. Now, what did you have in your bag??
I love seeing pictures of your workplace. Everyone always looks so happy and cheerful. If I took pics in my office it would be a different story most days ;)
Now I'm really impressed about you making a video for the workplace. It's going to be so special. Good for you for doing this. They will love it.
I used to be camera shy too until I realized that I didn't made myself and that I shouldn't be ashamed of how God made me. We are all so special in the eyes of God.
I don't blame you for having tent envy. I love the white tents too. Have a spectacular weekend. Hugs. JB
Too bad you didn't get Dr. Bernhard to S.M.I.L.E!!! He has a great one. The locker room shot made me laugh. I never thought about it being blog worthy. I can't wait to see what you have cooked up for Nurse's week...hmmm. The idea to have every one bring something in a bag is a fun one. You can really learn something about people. You with a camera? Yes! Except when there are tents around.
PS> That Julia, What a neat thing to write!!
As usual, great photos. I love the tent too! That would look great in my backyard! ^_^ And your hospital sounds like a fun place to work...even though I know how hard you ladies and gentlemen REALLY work!! Having good co-workers makes all the difference in the world in "our" line of work. (Even though it's not my line of work anymore!) :-) Have a good weekend, Yaya!
Oh boy--- I can sure identify with that locker room photo--- I guess that's pretty standard for nurses everywhere!! I've spent a lot of my life in a locker room just like that!!!
Love-
Vicki
Enjoyed an inside view of your work place. Loved the tent too. How fun to be planning a party with a tent like that involved.
Nothing big going on here at our house. Quiet for a change.
Love when things are settled down and we can enjoy our routine.
Thanks for the great post.
Agh! I forgot the meeting. I wanted to go too.....
Looks like you had a great busy week.
Hey! Good news! I finally blogged! I like the silver and gold button bracelets you posted! so cool!
It's good to know that I can eventually overcome my camera shyness. I always think that I look better than what I see in pictures...it is shocking sometimes! Loving the tents too..hmmm, where could I put a couple of those?
I love the photos you share from work! Your lockers are so cute. Mine would definitely be graffitied with all kinds of pictures, signs, magnets, etc. I would do it up BIG.

Looks like you have a great team! The video is a great idea. I've noticed that sometimes people who are camera-shy usually are the ones who love seeing their pictures.
You all have way too much fun at work! You're right about the camera. Once I learned to just relax and enjoy being in the picture it was magic - my photo images improved greatly! Being camera shy makes you look tense!
Very handsome doc you have there. If I need bones fixed I know where to go.
I'm glad Jack dropped your camera off so you could at least get a picture of the tents. Like you, I have always loved tents and this looks like a great place to have a company picnic.
You had so many neat things in your post that I am sure I will forget many of them. You really don't have much room to get ready in, do you? Your lockers look like they are in a hallway. They sure have a lot of pictures on the front.
I think it is neat that you go around getting everyones pictures, just keep snapping away, and they will all love it!
Your Dr. B is very handsome. If I could have something replaced, I wouldn't mind him doing it. I need so many things replaced, hips and knees paraticularly, but I can't have surgery unless it is a life and death situation. I tend to throw blood clots and almost died from double pulmonary embolism once.
It won't be too much longer until I see you and Donna. I'm really getting excited!
Great idea with the bag! Hmmm, that requires some serious reflection on what three things I would include.
Love your project with pics of surgical dept. Looks like you guys are a real fun team.
And yes, I can tell your locker from Donna's!
Wow, coat blue! After your description of mopping up after surgery, I'm horrified...did they have to wipe up the floors after my surgery, I wondered. think of all the body fluids, etc.!!
So in awe of all of you who dare to work in an operating room!!!!
I used to be a lot more camera shy too. I've sort of given up. I don't want to be invisible to my posterity!
I think if I had to have surgery, I'd like to go to your place. Everyone looks/seems so nice.
=)
