Patch Envy

A few months ago I was president of our women's organization..The Relief Society. Then our little Branch of the Church turned into a Ward when we inherited members from another Ward that split. Voila! I was released. I was not sad..at all. I've served in that position 4 times and I was happy to move to something else. However, when I was asked to be the Leader of our 11yr. old Boy Scouts my first thought was "Seriously? They want a Grandmother to be their leader?" My answer was "Sure, why not." My ever enthusiastic Scouter hubby thought it was a good idea..heck, I get a really cool patch to wear on my shirt. It's one that only our Church has since regular BSA troops don't have a separate 11yr. old Scout patrol...or something like that. He said other Leaders from other troops will drool over it. (Ok, so he didn't say those exact words) but his enthusiasm made me think they would. Here's the patch...are you drooling yet?
Oh yeah...classy, that's me. Thousands will drool over this patch.
One final thought. I picked these up at the hospital gift shop. Not expensive of course, but I was just wondering....silver or goldish with the scout shirt?

Normally I'd choose the gold, but if you look better in silver, go with those. You'll be a GREAT scout leader, with that yard of yours! I'd make them all go in the creepy woods and pick berries for you.

I'd answer but my keyboard is shorting out from all the drool. ;)

Good for you. :) I'd go for gold.

I am drooling and I think it's GREAT, plus, you look really good in Khaki!
BTW, gold goes with khaki in my book.

Go for the gold!
And I would be envious if not for the fear that I might have to earn that patch myself some day. :)

Definite preference for gold from me. You are such a trooper, with incredible stamina! The scouts are lucky to have you!

You'll be envied up and down the street! And imagine how popular you'll be with your own grandkids, and their friends too!

You are going to have a blast! Eleven year old boys are still young enough to be excited by all things boy, especially nature and badges, and also to be appreciative of a grandma giving her time to be with them!

Grandmothers are cool! And if 11 year old boys want you to lead them, you must be one of the coolest! And I have to go with the gold, too.

I'd say gold for you because you are a treasure for sure to do this for the youth. You will be an awesome leader.
You look great in uniform too. I hope that this will be a pleasurable experience for you.

Hugs,

JB

Great calling, Kathy, and I would definitely go with the gold earings. I can't imagine why Karen thought you would look better in silver!!

I love your uniform and you look splendid in it. Sweet Tea is totally right, gold is much better with Khaki.

You will absolutely love working with 11 year olds.
I also hope that the majority of choices for the silver or gold will convince you!

Love you Kath..........

I think the gold will highlight that fancy patch the best!

YOU must be the greatest Grandma ever!! Your grandsons must be so proud of you-- I know I am! That patch is not only super cool--- but it's priceless!!

Now here's the question--- can you start a fire by rubbing sticks together?
Vicki

Ps-- I vote for gold hoops!!

Well, since silver is the highest award in scouting...I'd go with it! :) I'm glad you said yes, because sometimes grandmas' are just best!

Love the patch, and the glee on your face as your wear it. I think the earrings should match the slide for your scout scarf, whatever color that is.
