Winter...it's here for real. The shortest day of the year. Even though we've already had snow storms that closed schools, brought bone chilling temps, slippery roads and slowed down the generosity to the Salvation Army bell ringers, it's the official time of the year to call it what it is....Winter. I grew up in this climate. Chicago isn't exactly the warmest city in the nation during this season. I've found out Ohio isn't either. But call it what you will, it's got it's beauty as all change of seasons do. The sparkles on the snow, the ice that coats the trees, the frozen lakes and creeks...the quiet of the woods and the white that covers the muddy driveway. The rosy cheeks and the squeals of happy children sledding down snow covered hills. The hot chocolate that awaits those sledding times! So I might complain here and there, but all in all this is a glorious time...one that makes you look at the following pictures (from last year) and say: "How many days till spring?"...Of course the flip side of the shortest day is the longest night...make of that what you will!
And may all your Christmases be white!

Good Morning and Merry Christmas! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment at my place.
I lived in Ohio years ago - as a child, 4th/5th grade (alpha and dayton) - oh I remember the snow! My knee socks would freeze on my legs as I waited for the bus!
Boy, yours is beyond white! Looks like you've got snow to spare.
Merry Christmas!
=)
Absolutely beautiful, you are so right every season has its own beauty you only have to stop and look for it....... a white Christmas I wish...........
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I appreciate all your kind words.
Its so true what you say. My family, we love all the winter fun..but, its always "how many days to spring?". I love the more family time that winter gives us to share at the fireplace. I'm waiting for the snow to show itself, now.
I was in Ohio during the blizzard of 96' and it really shows you what cold really means.
Merry Christmas!
I like autumn the best, but there is an innocent beauty to the winter. My favorite is snow covered pines and ice covered deciduous trees! Thanks for your inspiration.
It's a beautiful sight; but, I can feel the numbness creeping up my toes in these conditions.
You have way more snow at the Pines than we do in the Hollow! Ours is melting and you can walk on the driveway and everything. Funny, huh? But it looks pretty. Happy Holidays from this Starkey Household to that one...love ya sista!! -D
Oh My goodness! Honey you have got some snow there and it is beautiful. Right now my air conditioner is running because it is close to 75 outside.
One day we run the heat the next day the air. Sometimes I wish to live where you do but then I am not good with a shovel. lol
Merry Christmas
Love ya
Maggie

Oh my gosh - that is some serious snow!!! will it ever end! Hope you get a break in the weather soon!
