I started this post last weekend but it's now Friday the 13th but not unlucky! No work so Jack and I did some final shopping and running errands. Our December started out pretty chilly. We got the wood stove up and humming along only to shut it down last weekend as temps were in the mid 50s! Cold came back yesterday along with snow but the sun has shown the last 2 days and I can take cold when it's so pretty and sunny out. Ashland had it's annual parade and tree lighting last Saturday. The crowds were crazy so we watched it on TV. I'm grateful they stream it for us old folks! They have fireworks afterwards and we could hear the booms all the way in our neck of the woods.. Our Freer Field Candy Cane lane got into the Guiness record books with the most lights on metal trees....or something like that! Well, we have few lights here at the Pines but not in the Creep Woods. Before our snow came this week I walked the woods with Annabelle when the temps were mild last weekend.
The lights here aren't the Christmas ones, just the Mother Nature type with the slowly setting sun. We will have the beginning of Christmas activities that include a Church social tomorrow, caroling during the week, cookie making, gift wrapping, and hopefully some Christmas movie watching. I bet all of you are busy too or perhaps just enjoying the peaceful music or going to see Christmas lights. What ever your activities I hope it's a good weekend. I'll be posting some pics of our adventures. Here's a little pic of the house and my decorated new fence:
Here's the snow from yesterday:I want to put a quick shout out to my BFF Donna who made me the cutest wreath:Thanks Donna! Happy mid December folks!

Hi, YaYa!
I'm back in the blogging beeswax, dear friend, and happy to see you this month as Christmas and the end of the year rapidly approach. I very much admire your snowy header scene!
It's a neat idea to stream the annual Ashland Christmas parade and tree lighting so that folks can watch it from the comfort of their homes (including the Yeti in his Creepy Woods den). I'd love to see pics of those lights along Candy Cane Lane. Your new fencing looks handsome and even more so with the lights and evergreen accents. Last weekend, Mrs. Shady and I took the train to NYC and spent four days visiting our 27 year old granddaughter. New York is a holiday wonderland with many stunning light displays. My favorite was an indoor shopping mall hallway lined with trees that formed arches overhead. Each tree was trimmed with a hundred or more soft white lights, creating a glow that was nothing less than magical.
Hello to friend Donna! I'm sure you recall laughing at my goofy remarks all those years ago when I was a new kid on the block at Whispering Pines. Happy holidays to you, Donna. That's a lovely wreath you made for our friend YaYa.
Hugs and smooches to my bow-wow buddy Annabelle. Yaya, I hope you and Jack have fun participating in the various activities your community offers during the holidays. I am returning with a new post tomorrow, Sunday, and invite you to join the fun at Shady's Place. Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend YaYa!
It seems to me that time is just whirling by and I am being left dazed and dizzy. 10 days to Christmas Eve and I've nothing accomplished other than a bit of decorating. Yikes!! You know I envy you your Creepy Woods' paths...although it's been far too cold here for any walks (-30+º windchills for several days). We have warmed up today...and, of course, that means a winter storm warning. Not that much snow, but ice first which is always wicked. Your festive fence is awesome! No outdoor decorating here other than some greens and lights in the copper boiler on my (wannabe) porch. I treated myself to a nice, fresh, wreath since I can't have a large tree or an outside one and lights anymore...but I haven't managed to get it to stay hanging on my door.... I've given up. Enjoy your pre-Christmas activities... ~Robin~ (Sweet wreath from your friend!)
I'm cold just reading and looking at the pictures. LOL It is cold here in Florida (for Florida ha! in the low 50s!) I smiled when you said, "The crowds were crazy so we watched it on TV. I'm grateful they stream it for us old folks!.....
Yeah I understand that feeling. LOL Love from down this way, stay warm, and hug your Jack!
Your house looks well decorated for Christmas. I tried to make the picture bigger but it stayed small. I have a single wreath on the front door. I can't believe that we are already halfway in December and the postal strike is still ongoing.
I miss that girl, Donna and I wish you both well. Take care. Hugs.
Julia
Hello! New here and I love the house and fence decorations...My Dad was also a Chiropractor. He was great at it...and loved his work.
Have a Merry Christmas.
hugs
Donna
Cute wreath. No snow here. Dont thiink we will for Christmas. Janice
I totally understand staying at home instead of going to the parade, we've seen parades before, right? LOL!! Love your snow, it's so pretty. Stay warm!!
