No, Spring isn't here but it sure feels like it! We've had temps in the upper 50's to 60de the last few days. A little sun here and there was nice but mostly we've had rain. I know we were in a drought this summer, so I won't dis the rain. This is not really unusual weather for our area as I've looked back over the years on my blog and found warm temps this time of year. I can even recall a January time when we had a 70de day when my BFF Donna and I used to walk. I know the cold is coming this week, so I'll enjoy this reprieve! Last night I finally took the walk around our "Candy Cane Trail" at Freer Field. It was pretty amazing. It first started last year but they really upped the beauty factor with tons more lights and sights. Annabelle came with me as Jack was a little under the weather. I wish I had remembered to put my memory card in my camera to get better pics....senior moment! So, here's just a little taste that I took with my phone:
Start at the beginning:Annabelle enjoyed the trek and lots of kiddos stopped to pet her. She's a good sport and loves people so petting her was a bonus for her.The lighted trees and little vignettes like gingerbread people were beautiful. There were many other cute stops for a photo moment or just to look at like a Nativity set up or a reindeer looking for Rudolph! It's about a mile or more and we did win a place in the Guiness record books for the most lights on metal trees or something like that. If you go to Facebook for Candy Cane Trail, I think you'd get a much better depiction of the event.

Hi, YaYa!
I wanted to stop in and see you one last time before year's end, dear friend. Sorry to hear that it was Jack's turn to feel under the weather. (Hope Lexi is feeling better by now.)
I'm glad you took Annabelle with you to Candy Cane Trail and even happier to know that she seemed to enjoy the experience and the attention of kids passing by. The attraction is magical. I love the sight of pure white light piercing the darkness. I suppose it symbolizes to me that there is always the light of hope to cling to during our darkest days.
Our weather turned warmer today, too, and it has rained more the last month or so than it did all spring and summer. We had a dusting of snow a few days ago but it quickly melted.
I hope Jack bounces back in time to ring in the new year. Look for my special blog announcement first thing New Year's Day (Wednesday) followed two days later on Friday the 3rd by my first official post of 2025.
Happy new year to you and your wonderful family, dear friend YaYa!
Happy almost Monday and almost New Year's Eve eve??? Think I have my days right... This "Twixmas" time wreaks havoc on my calendar. The Candy Cane Trail looks beautiful. I think you mentioned it before. I'll have to look it up online to see who sponsors it, etc. And I'm glad you still managed to take it in before they shut it down for the year. I so dislike that Christmas is turned off like a light switch on Dec. 26th these days. In my childhood, our tree did not go up until the 24th and the 25th was the official beginning of Christmastide...rather than the end of Christmas. Wow...you are getting some spring-like temps. Us too, but "spring-like" here is the 30's. But I'll take it as I know what will inevitably come. ~Robin~
Ahh you got some good ones anyway. And sorry you Jack is down some. Oh yes the memory card, a guess we all have did that at least once. funny that. I put an extra card in the car, incase I did it again and it has never happened. I notice the card yesterday. LOL
Love your way from down here and hope Jack gets back on track for the New Year.
Happy New Years Eve! What a wonderful walk down candy cane lane. A perfect night for it too. Too bad Jack was under the weather to join you. We had the same weather pattern and last night the wind came in. Janice
