Bye Bye January!

Holy moly, it's the last day of January.  I'm happy because the days are getting a tad bit brighter at the end of the day and I know Spring is just around the corner.  But February is famous for the worst weather so I'll just try and hold down my excitement for a bit!  I don't have a lot to even blog about at this last day. The weekend was a mix of snow and dreary and Jack and I both were a little under the weather.  But we bounce back quick so all's good for today. Here's just a couple of quick pics to bind up my January posts..like a little blog quilt!

Saturday had me up earlier than I usually do on the weekend and I could actually see the sunrise.  The trees here at the Pines always hide a really good sunrise but in winter the leafless trees help to catch a glimpse.

A quick pic of  my neighbor's barn. I hate to admit to envy of anything but I do love this barn!

I will admit that I make a really good  pot of chicken noodle soup.  With both Jack and I not feeling 100% and Jordan sporting a small cold, this pot of soup hit the spot.  It's even better the next day. I make it for folks when I know someone isn't feeling great. I think it has magical powers...maybe it's the dill in it?  That's all folks from Whispering Pines today and the last day of January. Bye Bye until next month!

So sorry you are feeling under the weather. My husband has had a cough going on 4 weeks now. He is better but he was sick for awhile. Your soup looks wonderful and dill I would have never thought to put dill in chicken noodle.
The coldest weather in 5 years is on the way in not looking forward to that. But very glad to have the woodstove to help keep us warm.
Happy last day of January

Hi, YaYa!

I suspected I'd see an update from you today, and I am happy to see one. You make me smile, dear friend. If you check your blog books back through the years, you will notice that 99.99% of the time, you begin a post by saying you don't have much to blog about. :) For those of us who love you, anything that goes on at The Pines, at the hospital, in downtown Ashland or on trips to other cities, is of great interest. Also, be thankful when life is so routine that you can't think of things to write about. As you well know, ordinary days are precious gifts compared to the tense crises we deal with so much of the time.

I too have been noticing that the daylight is lasting longer into the evening. However, that phenomenon is nothing new in your area. If I am not mistaken, you live above the Arctic Circle in a region dubbed Land of the Midnight Sun. :)

I am relieved to know that you, Jack and Jord have bounced back after spending the weekend feeling poorly. I enjoyed your last set of pictures to bring the month of January, 2023, to a close. I'm wondering if that barn is where my buddy the alpaca lives. That kettle of soup looks steamy hot and delicious! I have no doubt that your hot chicken noodle soup helped all three of you recover from whatever was ailing you.

Happy last day of January to you, dear friend YaYa, and let me be the first to wish you a merry Christmas. (It'll be here sooner than you think.) I hope February will bring reasonable winter weather and many blessings to your wonderful family!

It's always nice seeing a blog post from you even when you feel that you don't have much to blog about.

Hard to believe but January is getting out the door already. I think January just putting up a fuss because a few minutes ago it was sunny with blue skies and the next it was snowing heavily and the wind was blowing, then as quickly as it arrived, the snow stopped, the wind died down sun is shining again. No doubt the groundhog is waiting to come out the door on Thursday. It's supposed to be mainly sunny, so maybe 6 more weeks of winter. Who knows, the weather is always so unpredictable lately.

I'm glad you are both feeling good again. I love the look of your chicken noodle soup. It makes me want to make some for supper.

I really don't have anything to blog about either as I've just been working in the office and spending the morning at the accountant.

Take care, hugs.

Oh...gee....I think I feel something coming on....will you make me some of your magical soup?? 😉 Seriously, I would do (almost) anything for soup LOL. It's bitterly cold here...I have portable heaters running in the basement bathroom, the stairwell, etc. in hopes the pipes won't freeze. And while I do notice the lengthening of days (and welcome it), I don't even dare allow myself thinking of spring as our worst winter months both snow and cold wise are usually February and March..and the snow continuing well into April...as I am sure you know from your brother. Sorry to hear he is having health issues and wish him well with the sale of the house. I haven't been to the lake in over a year. Long story.... ~Robin~ (TheCrankyCrow)

OKAY, I didn't need the COLD pictures! HAHAHAHAHA I am still cold and am not even in a cold climate. ;-) BUT now of course the soup looked delicious.. We have been AWOL for awhile, will try to do better. Thinking of heading back to Florida to see if I can thaw out. ;-)
The best to you and your Jack,
Sherry & jack down here wishing you the fastest recoveries....
