Tornado Season

We had some pretty terrific storms rip through our area early this morning.  I guess 2 tornadoes 🌪 had their way with Ashland county.  The lightening was crazy! Constant flashing and loud, house shaking booms! Poor Annabelle was shaking and unsure what was happening.  We lost power around 1am and are still in the dark tonight.  Not sure when power will be restored but temps tomorrow are supposed to be 97de and humid. We're missing our A/C!  Thankfully we only lost one tree and no house damage.  Or next door neighbor lost 2 trees and found them in their bathroom!  Trees on our road hit power lines like our elderly neighbors tree  across the street.

You have to look close but the wires are in there! Hopefully we'll get power back by tomorrow.  My freezer and fridge food could be a total loss if we don't. Wish us luck!

YaYa, this is shocking, dear friend! I'm terribly sorry to learn that Ashland got hit hard by a storm system that spawned two tornadoes and that you folks at the Pines were pinned down by a ferocious storm that knocked-out your power. Poor Annabele! I can imagine how terrified she was to go through that loud battering. I know what it's like to lose power in a storm in the middle of a heat wave. It happens regularly down here in Florida. I hope you'll have the juice back on sometime today, sooner rather than later, so that your chilled foods can be saved and you can again experience some relief from the heat. As they say, it could have been worse. Your property could have been directly in the path of a twister. Thank goodness that didn't happen. I hope all is well with other members of your family who live nearby and with your neighbors, the farm with alpacas, the helpful man who generously plowed snow from your driveway last winter, and all the others.

I'll be thinking about you and awaiting further updates. Hang in there, dear friend YaYa!

Hi Yaya - so sorry to hear that you are dealing with tornados. I lived in Oklahoma as a child, then in Nebraska and Illinois when our kids were small and I hate tornadoes and tornado sirens! So sorry this happened in your community. I hope you get power back soon, and that you don't have more rough weather. Keep us updated.

Ao sorry about your loss of power and the downed trees and limbs. Thank goodness there was no damage to your house like your neighbor and that you are all safe.
Whenever we had power outages, I always covered my freezer with heavy wool blankets and comforters to keep the cold in the freezer. It's amazing how long it will keep everything frozen. Now because of going through two floods, two years in a row, and losing all of our freezers and fridges contents, we have a large Generec generator that runs on propane and kicks in as soon as the power goes off. We can't use the internet, though.

Poor little Annabelle... I hope that you'll get your power on soon.
Stay safe and well.
Hugs, Julia

Yikes!! So not fun...but, gee...did you have to send that stuff our way?? We were at 98º at 7pm still yesterday (Mother Nature must have forgotten she was in Nod) - and we are currently under a tornado warning. Second in as many hours. Like Julia, we have a back-up generator after having lived through 3 days of a winter power outage with no heat, no nothing, several Decembers back. Wind makes me anxious so you know what tornadoes do to me. I am amazed our internet is back up....I'm sure it's temporary. I hope your power comes back up soon and your refrigerated/frozen things survive. How horrible to lose it all with food prices where they are. And so sad to see those old trees go down. That always breaks my heart. Stay safe...sending prayers your way. ~Robin~
