Today was a beautiful Spring day with sunshine and temps in the 50's. It felt great to stroll around the Pines this evening and take Arnie out for a walk this afternoon. I felt like my last post was a bit on the whiny side so I'm going for a little more upbeat today! I'm sure many folks are yearning for the "Good Old Days" of a few months ago but there are positives about the "Good Old New Days" happening now. I think many families are getting closer and without the rushing around we usually do we can take some time to organize, regroup, set priorities, check on friends and neighbors...even remotely...and perhaps find ways to do more service for others that doesn't involve face to face action. You probably have many ways that you've found to serve others. I know lots of folks who have sewing skills are making masks for friends and families. Food gets dropped off at the hospital daily by businesses that are saying thanks for those on the front line. I was at the hospital today and noticed the chalk drawings on the sidewalk. I wish I had clicked a pic! The messages of thanks really uplifts the folks working there under more stress than usual. This time away from surgery has made me appreciate my coworkers from the "Good Old Days" more! We see each other in passing now and then, and can't hug, but the smiles and the "I miss you!" greetings are truly heart felt. We'll look back on these days and remember how we felt, how we worked, how we survived, and how we appreciated the good moments in every day life. Today a friend who was cleaning out "stuff" in her home found an old newspaper clipping from 36 years ago. I was featured as the cook of the week in our local newspaper. I had just had my last son, Jordan, who was around 6 months when this appeared. Thanks Bryn for the memory!
Ahhhh...the "Good Old Days!"

They will be back, different but still back.
Oh how cute with that old story! I am sure it was fun to see it. I will never take for granted spending time with my grandson. Really missing that!

So funny my brother in law was cleaning out and sent us the newspaper clipping of our engagement. Funny how things are surfacing.
I do think families are closer no running from all the activities.
Stay safe and healthy

Hi, YaYa!
You're right, dear friend. This is an uplifting post. As we long for a return to life as it was in The Good Old Days, there are indeed many things we can find to do during this time when our regular lives are on hold. We can do spring cleaning that we never seem to find time to do other years. We can organize closets, cupboards garages and sheds, do needed repairs and spruce up the property, removing the dead branches of winter to promote spring growth on shrubs and trees. Most importantly we have time to connect and bond with friends and loved ones, strengthening relationships as we all pull together through a crisis. I imagine this is how it felt to be alive during WWII when we all depended on each other and everybody did his or her part. I am thankful there are so many people expressing appreciation to front line heroes like you.
That news clipping is awesome! To think that Jord was only a baby at the time. However, the paper mistakenly used a picture of Sophia Loren or Gina Lollobrigida (I can't tell which one) and they also spelled "YaYa" incorrectly. :)
Keep smiling, dear friend, and thank you for your service!
Improving weather always improves my outlook. Love the blast from the past in the paper. Jilda and I both have some of those.
Well said. The "good old days" when one could go to the hairdresser/salon.💖
Maybe a blast from the past but you were gorgeous with your long hair and I bet you would have rivaled Martha Stewart in your cooking skills.
Thanks for sharing. Of course, you are still gorgeous.
Hugs, Julia
How nice of your friend to show you the article. Always nice to featured in a newspaper. You were a beauty from the past. PLus I bet those loaves were good! Jaice
Hey, this was a nice uplifting read lady, THANKS for a good visit. It does help when people take time to express their appreciation.....
Lie is very good at times.
NICE PERSPECTIVE. IT SURE IS NICE HAVING THINGS SLOW DOWN SOME. WE REALLY NOTICE WHEN WE ARE TAKING OUR EVENING WALKS AROUND TOWN THAT THERE IS ALOT LESS TRAFFIC; LIVING BETWEEN THE ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL AND PARK...NO ACTIVITIES HAS MADE FOR SLOW TRAFFIC.
I HOPE YOU ARE WELL. BEAUTIFUL PIC FROM THE PAPER.
LOVE,
STACY
It's OK to be whiny sometimes:) I too have thought a lot about "the good old days"...or at least the days before the virus. I keep seeing this meme on FB about not wanting to go back to certain things and I so agree with it. Although I wish this virus had never happened, I do see some good things that have happened and I hope and pray there will be other good things. My fear though is that our world will forget many of the lessons that we have learned, or at least should have learned. But I need to think positively:) At any rate, this time has certainly been a reflective time for me. Stay well...love & hugs!
First of all, Congratulations (even though belated, hey I did not know this then). It is not every day that one gets featured in the newspaper.
Secondly -----
I miss my childhood more than anything. The days I spent with my grandma and her wisdom. My hubby is going through memory loss and he is different at night time and thinks that we are in India and talks about his childhood and the past. Sometimes he tells me to send money to my parents (who are not even alive). Then as he talks about his childhood I start missing my own and wish things were different with my husband.I try not to complain but sometimes I cant help it.
Hopefully the world will get back to normalcy. The good old days may not come back but the later days might get better.
Take care of yourself.
