Weird Week..And It's Only Tuesday

I've been home sick with the crud that has been flying all over work and church.  I was a little under the weather a few weeks ago but it passed quickly and I didn't miss work.  This past weekend found me feeling poorly again.  I'm usually a fairly healthy person. Jack and I both feel blessed to be that way.  That's why I get pretty bummed when it actually takes me out of my usual schedule!  I'm feeling a little more normal today but decided I would stay home anyway just to feel more rested.  Sometimes pushing yourself isn't the smartest move.  I just have to get over feeling guilty or like I'm letting my coworkers down.  We're very short staffed because that's how the corporation likes it, but when sickness happens then we...the worker bees...suffer.  Anyway, I'm hoping for a better end to the week!  The other strange thing was the wind storm over the weekend.  Sunday started out 60de and sunny but by 10am it was blowing and the temps dropped and snow flurries hit the air.  The snow didn't amount to anything but there were power outages, downed trees, and wind damage around town.  We were lucky to have kept the power and I always worry about the pine trees falling.  Pine trees don't have super deep roots.  Ours have helped block the wind many times.  Our only testament to strong wind was the little pergola that fell over in the garden:
Jack says he'll fix it and I know he will.  He's threatening to put re-bar about 12 feet deep in the bottom! Ha!  Some other folks weren't as lucky as us.
This tree fell on a chimney that then went through the roof.  Ouch!  Also the pine tree that the University always uses for it's Christmas tree lighting ceremony was uprooted.  Another tragedy, that wasn't because of the wind storm, was our favorite orchard where we get our apples from lost it's barn to a fire.
Thankfully it happened before the wind storm or I'm sure the orchards would have been damaged too. Hopefully it will be rebuilt and ready for the owners by Fall harvest.  On another note I didn't say how our Arnie's surgery went last week.  He came through it much better than the first time he had surgery last year.  We switched Vets and are very happy with them.  The fatty tumor will probably come back again because it's pretty deep in the muscle and trying to get it all out could damage the nerves in his front leg. So we'll see how it goes but he's doing well although he's on a diet.  He's a little overweight so we're working on getting him back in shape for swimsuit season!
If he just didn't beg so dang cute we might have a better chance at slimming him down!  The only nice thing so far this week was seeing some sunshine yesterday.
It's pretty cold out but I'll take cold with no snow and lots of sun.  Even if it's just seeing it for the time it takes to get the dog out for a potty break....dang flu.  Hope your week is going better.

Hi, YaYa!

I love your hooty owl header, dear friend!

I am very sorry to learn that you are "poorly" this week. Please don't feel guilty about missing work. You are not letting your coworkers down. Few people on this earth have your work ethic and stellar attendance record. Like you, I am not keen (there's that word!) on rapidly changing weather. We get many hot, windy days down here, and they are the worst. As I think I told you a few years ago, hurricane winds in 2004 and 2005 toppled several of our shallow rooted pines and two of the trees landed on the roof of our house. I am very sorry to learn that your community suffered power outages and damage from the high winds. I am also sorry fire destroyed that old barn. When I was a TV news photographer in Central PA, I went to the scene of many Amish barn fires on cold winter nights.

I am relieved to know that Arnie's surgery went well. One of the problems I always had with our Toto as giving in to her cute begging. She stole my heart!

Dear friend, I hope you feel better hour by hour. Please take care of yourself. Rest, keep warm and eat some chicken soup. I'm thinking about you, YaYa!

Oh wow, sorry you've been under the weather. Seems though that you are on the road to recovery. I'm sure you've been on the other end of the situation at work having to cover extra when people were sick, etc., so now its your turn to take care of your body. Its the corporations fault for scheduling so thinly and it seems like they all do it these days. We are scheduled down to the minute of our work schedules to make sure the customer's needs are being met. Glad to hear Arnie weathered his surgery fine. It is good he has such loving parents with you and Jack! I'm sure he'll slim down a bit before bikini season :)

In the meantime, do take care of yourself!

You had a rough week, I hope you are both feeling much better and I'm glad that cute little Arnie's surgery went ok.
Stop feeling guilty, it doesn't help anyone. You work so hard that you deserve a rest. Big corporations are the ones who should feel guilty for using people for profit.

I hope that your new vet did a better job than the other so Arnie won't have to have surgery so soon again.
Here it's very windy today and the snow is drifting in places but at least the sun is shining.

Take care, Hugs, Julia

Sorry you are not feeling well. We are stilling getting that wind and it is so cold brrrrr
But we are under a couple of feet of snow nothing green here. Our Mt Washington broke a Feb record of a gust of 171 MPH. I know it is hard to say no to a sweet face like that.

Well, Missy, you have had a lot going on! So sorry you have been sick...I was under the weather for 2 weeks this month thanks to all the yellow pine pollen that has covered everything here!!! How I dread it every year. Sorry too about the bad weather there. We have had such a mild winter here...I've hardly even worn my winter coat! I really like the winter...love my boots, scarves, and curling up in front of a warm fire in the fireplace:) Glad that Arnie is doing well...he's SO cute! Hope you and he are both completely recovered very soon!

Oh no, Kathy! I hope you are feeling better. It's been going around here, too. We only had 9 kids in primary last week and about have of them were mine! I'm glad Arnie is doing well. I love your shed that looks like a barn. It's super cute. Get well!
