How I Did 65

This week started out so bad with losing our furbaby, Chubbs, but everyone's thoughts and kind words have helped.   Today I turned 65.  I wasn't looking forward to this bday but I sure had tons of reminders for the past year that it was happening.  I'm sure there were more than a few forests that were cleared of trees to make paper for AARP , Social Security, and Medicare flyers, reminders, sign ups and other forms of old folk mail.  I'm still trying to figure out how it happened.  I know how it happened of course...I was born...duh.  But the time flew so fast and many days my body reminds me that although my brain thinks it's only 30, my body will scream "OLD!"  Or maybe that's "STOP!"  Whatever.  Anyway it's here and I'm still here so that's a blessing.  As Jack always says, "Growing old beats the alternative."   And when anyone says it's good to see you Jack also says: "It's better to be seen than viewed."  That's true too.   So I'll "suck it up buttercup" and be glad for my wonderful family and great friends.  I took the day off work since it's also Jack's day off and we drove to Columbus and spent the morning at the Temple.  Ahh...peace, quiet, time to think, pray and realize that I have a good life and not to waste what the Lord gave me.   We then went out for a quick lunch at Sonic where I had a delish bacon burger and a chocolate shake since there are no calories on your birthday.  When we got home Jack told me to change into something comfy and we were going on an adventure.  He took me to a place I didn't even know Ashland had...an indoor archery range.  I broke my bow about 5 years ago and hadn't had it fixed.  I always loved archery.  So he surprised me by getting my bow repaired, new arrows, and range time to use whenever I want.  Love it!  I took the time to test it all out and see if I could still hit the target!
Take aim!
Bam! Bulls eye!  Now that's how you do 65!

WOW, you still got it! I could never do archery, that string always hit my arm and took out skin all the way down.

Happy 65th Birthday Yaya. You're still young. Getting seen is better than getting viewed any day, especially when you're good looking.
Wow, I didn't know you loved archery. How about that! You hit Bull's eye. You ROCK girl... I hated all the paperwork that went with turning 65 and now I'm working on 72 and much less paperwork.
Hugs, Julia

Hi, YaYa!

Happy 65th birthday to you, dear friend! If I didn't know you better, I'd be calling you a fibber along about now, because you still look like you're age 30... make that 29. I regret that your wonderful Chubbs passed away so close to your special day and I am still feeling mighty sad about that. I am so glad to know that you had the day off and that you and Jack spent the day together praying, meditating, having lunch and going to the archery range. I took archery in a phys ed course at college and was very good at it. I was also quite a good fly caster (rod and reel), and was able to hit the target consistently.

I wish you all the best in the coming year, dear friend YaYa. Once again, happy birthday to you!

Happy Birthday, Yaya! I hit 75 this year! My twin asked me if I thought we'd ever make it, and I said 'sure, but I didn't expect it to arrive so quickly!' I hope you have an awesome day and a blessed year! Here's to many, many more. I'm glad I'm on MC and my 2ndary. Reading the statements from them, makes me so thankful. I feel so bad for those people that can't afford health insurance. My almost 25 year old grand son was Dx with T1 diabetes. He's learning how to live with it. It's not the story he wanted, but....

Happy Birthday!!! I'm impressed with your archery skills. 65 is not getting you down. I made 64 on Tuesday. I am thankful for another year and counted my blessings.

What a fun gift from Jack. He was right on target with his idea. ;)
I remember your 50th birthday party well, as Tom and I got a surprise wedding shower with the recycled decorations from that party. It does NOT seem like 15 years have passed since then, and you haven't aged a day!
