There's No Business Like Snow Business

The "Big One" hit yesterday.  The first real snowfall of the 2012.  We had a few teasers in the last month but the wind, cold and 6in. of white stuff was the real deal.  The hospital had a "code white"..didn't really matter to us because the snow didn't start falling until we all had made the trek in and so did all our patients. Just for the record, patients always make it in for surgery....always!  But we moved the surgery schedule along and as soon as the people with the farthest distance could leave, they headed for home. Very carefully!  The other problem we have is drifting across the many open fields around here.  Tonight coming home I spied a poor girl in a very deep ditch with her car.  I stopped to make sure she was OK and to help.  Her hubby was on the way but they would need a tow truck to bring it out of that ditch. Luckily she was fine and the car really had no visible damage. I was glad to make it home fine.
You can't tell that the snow is coming down hard in this pic of the backyard.
Hmmm...this pic looks very familiar to me.....(some scenes never change throughout the years! Except for the size of the trees!)
This is the path we shovel out on the deck so Eddy the boxer can get to his watering hole..if you get my drift..snow drift..get it? Never mind.
I guess we won't be dining outside tonight.  Someone really should put away the outdoor furniture! I even have planters with some plants still in them! Oh well, it will give me something to do in the Spring.  Yep, winter is really here. Brrrrrrr!

Oh, you faithful ones who are always there for the rest of us. Thank you.

Your scenery and snowfall are so gorgeous. Those beautiful snow covered trees. We actually got a little snow here in North Texas, but nothing like that! Stay warm in that lovely house. And safe on those country roads

We got hit with just about as much... which is very little compared to normal and lots compared to last year. :)

Your drifty puns made me laugh. :)

You make me laugh! Get my "drift"?

Your yard with the pines looks like a winter wonderland! I'm bringing the kids over with our snowboards. Do they go very far on the hill? I'd try it too....and then have a heart attack trying to walk back up it!!

Yep! Unfortunately winter is 'actually' here now!!...We got 6 or 7 inches too...and ice also. And we're due to get some more tomorrow...Ugh!...But I have to say, the trees do look pretty with the snow hanging on them. And the bird feeder does too..Poor little starving birdies!! ^_^

Time to go to sleep under a blanket of snow! Don't you love how a deep snow hushes the landscape?

Yaya, I got my puter fixed... and now I have lots of blog catching up to do. I'm so blessed to have you as a blogger friend too and I always love reading your blog and your sweet comments.

I love your beautiful winter decorated pine trees. So beautiful and magical.

It looks like you had a wonderful Christmas with family and I'm sure that no one went home hungry. You even made treats for the four legged big boy.

We had this big snow storm as well and I made it to town and back and as drove in to my driveway it started to be windy and the snow started falling.

Wishing you all a blessed New Year.

Hugs, JB

We got some here too Yaya.
We had to go to Columbus for Ray's important visit with heart specialist. Too sick to cancel.
We slid all over the place, til I remembered we had a traction button to push then it was better going!
He has a pacemaker put in next week and some sort of minor ablation.
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Blessings, Barb

Call me crazy...and most do, Lol, but I love love seeing all this snow! Could it be because I don't live in an area that gets it? Happy 2013!

Many Hugs & Cheers,
Loretta

I know it's cold, and I know it's dangerous at times. But it is still SO BEAUTIFUL! Please be careful going to and from work. Seat belts on.

I love to look at snow, just not in my yard. I think it's beautiful but driving in it makes me CRAZY!!
You are obviously a Trooper and know how to drive in the "stuff"
I love the fact that you still have some plants in your planters - ME TOO!!

Kay -- its truly beautiful - but I only like it if the snow comes on my days off - HATE driving to work in the mess!

I have just loaded your blog into the draft post for my Grow Your Blog post -- so you are all set! The date is January 19 -- so will see you there!

ps - will have a post for the pink scarves coming up soon and am linking to your blog so that everyone can read your amazing post and story of the special scarf!

Hi Yaya! I love your snow photos, and kind of wish we had some, too. We've not had a bit and there is no indication there will be any forthcoming. But, we do have a gorgeous day today, with brilliant blue sky, so I'm happy it's not raining!

Hi honey
Yep Winter is here for sure. I do love your pictures of the snow and your yard and home are lovely even in winter but I am too big of a sissy to deal with all that snow. haha
It has been in the twentys and thirtys here and some rain but no snow. The way I am acting around here you would think that is it 20 below and I am snowed in. haha
Love your Beautiful trees. They are getting huge but their so pretty.
Sending you nothing but good wishes for a very Happy New Year.
I so appreciate your friendship over these past years.
Take care honey and thank you for being the person you are and always helping others.
Love ya
Maggie

Your drift joke made me laugh. :-) And your pictures made me really glad to live where the precipitation is liquid and not frozen. Happy New Year!
