Keep Your Chin Up

It's been a week (tomorrow) since Jack's eye surgery.   He's had to keep his head facing down for a week.  I was often reminding him to "keep your head down" and today after his post-op check he can now "keep his chin up"!  Many times after retina surgery and the gas bubble they put in the eye, you have to keep the head down for at least 2 weeks.  He's healing really well and got  the OK to eliminate some of the drops and he only has to keep his head down when he sleeps.  He still can't drive and is dependent on me to get him to the office (yes, he continued to work...crazy guy!)  I'm getting better at the drive to Cleveland.  I grew up in the Chicago area and learned how to drive on freeways but after living in the country for 40 yrs  I'm slightly rusty.   I didn't get us killed or dented so all's good.  I forgot about rush hour traffic.  Seriously, I have to be at work by 7 am so why isn't everyone already at work by at least 8 am?  Stop and go is painful. Last week I said to Jack as we were leaving the Clinic, "Let's get out of this city and back to civilization!"  Then there's the weather.  We went to the Cleveland Clinic 3 times last week and each day it rained and that made the drive even more exciting.  Today it was predicted to rain of course but, "Surprise!"...no rain this morning, just bright, almost blinding, sunlight.  I was a happy girl!  The doctor was very pleased with his work and the fact Jack was being a good patient.  I'm pleased to not have to do as many drops in his eye.  I think more ran down his face than in his eye but I'm getting much better.  So hopefully he'll be 100% soon and Spring will arrive and stay.  It was warmish this week and yesterday I even mowed the grass!  However, as I let ol' Chubbs out tonight, the snow flakes were falling.  Yep, we might get 1-4 inches of the white stuff.  The weather people aren't sure what's going to happen.   Monday it's suppose to be 75.   Holy cow.  We'll get through this crazy Spring weather by telling ourselves..."Just keep your chin up!  It will be warm soon!"

Hi, YaYa!

This is great news about Jack, all things considered. I know it was a pain for you to have to drive him to Cleveland and back all those times, but I am relieved to know his recovery is going smoothly and that the worst of it seems to be over. I laughed at your line, "Let's get out of this city and back to civilization!" Good one! Hang in there, you guys, and soon Jack's eye episode will be a fading memory, as will your fickle spring weather. Here in my part of Florida it was a delightful day. A squall line pushed through this morning with high winds and lightning. Our power was knocked out for a short while, the storm dumped heavy rain on our area, and this evening was windy and much cooler. I say it was a delightful day with a straight face because we desperately needed the rain, and the cooler temperatures are a welcome added bonus at this time of year. I went for a walk after dinner and loved feeling the chilly wind in my face.

Thanks for the update on Jack and Chubbs, dear friend YaYa, and have a safe and happy weekend!

How do you work with your head down? That is a tough 2 weeks, hope it is successful.

Glad to hear Jack is making a good recovery! I'm with you on the driving. I don't drive these days hardly at all and got called up for jury duty in downtown Phoenix of all places. I considered it all; calling a cab, Uber, public transportation, etc. Hubby knows a lot of routes well since he has a long commute to work and I can get to the courthouse by city streets rather than freeways (its been years since I've been on one). I'll do that (or if I chicken out, I'll pay son to drive me to it :)

Crazy weather you all are having!

Good news about Jack's recovery. Our friend had that surgery several years ago and he said that holding his head down was the hardest part.
I drove in Birmingham every day for for over 25 years and got somewhat used to it, but it makes me antsy these days.

Great news about Jack! I'm so glad he is healing well. We all go the good news about our cataract surgeries!

I love living in the civilization! I was born and raised in Denver, and now live in a 'town' of 22, give or take! Lots of dogs and cats! We have a great church here, and it is amazing how many people come from afar, every single Sunday! We moved here 44 years ago on 4/1, in the middle of a blizzard, and the next day, not a flake was spared by the nice warm sun!

Thanks for the 'heads up' post! Loved it!

Great news about Jack speedy recovery. Good for you for handling all the driving in the big city. It's amazing what we can do when we have to. Fear is really our biggest enemy. We girls can do anything we set our minds to...
I prefer the slower routes to the faster ones and I like living in a smaller city. Everything seems to be speeding up now a day, even time. A week feels like 3 days.

We're having drizzle today and the snow is melting. Keeping my fingers crossed so we don't get flooded.
Hugs, Julia

Glad your sweet husband is doing better and good for you on all that city driving!
I know what you mean, if you are not used to traffic like that it can be quite difficult!
Spring will settle down and become like it should be, I hope! x
