So Thankful

I have many things to be thankful for this year.  Another Thanksgiving day to think of our blessings and hopefully everyone had time to spend with family and friends.  We had a nice gathering of kiddos and Grandkiddos and even boyfriends of Grandkiddos!  I'm so grateful for my family and sure wish I could have been with my Mom today and my sister too.  I have siblings scattered over north and south and would love to be with them also but I keep them in my thoughts and my heart.  3 out of our 4 sons were here today and I talked with Craig this evening.  We did the usual celebrating today. We started off with the Macy's Thanksgiving parade on TV as Jack and I got the house ready for the gang.  I had made 95%  of the dinner earlier in the week. Pies and sides done and the turkey cooked Wednesday night.  That way all we had to do was carve it up and keep it in the roaster so the oven was free to cook the remainder of the feast.
The star player for many on this day.  I'm not a huge turkey lover but I sure enjoy the house smelling so yummy!
Diningroom ready for the family...or the calm before the storm!
Jack ready for the day.
Addy and her sister made hats....cute!
The cousin table.
Overflow into the kitchen..
Summer brought our Granddog "Happy"....they were wearing matching sweaters!
Jack and Evelyn....tomorrow Jack, my oldest baby, turns 41..holy moly when did that happen!
Anthony stepping up to the drink station.
If you've followed my blog for any length of time you know what happens here...the pumpkin on the blue stand doesn't look too happy about it.  Yes, we shoot pumpkins here at the Pines on Thanksgiving day.  Have to get rid of the Halloween pumpkins!
The shooters.   I'm sure my neighbors were so pleased with all that racket!
Inside I kept the kiddos busy with making some Christmas ornaments.  Another Thanksgiving over.  All the preparation, all the food, all the family, all the fun.  Now it's time for bed.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love the tradition of the pumpkin shooting :) Seems like such a wonderful day celebrating with those you love who love you :) We are still in a rough time here, but the time spent with those we loved was precious and I wouldn't exchange it for anything, though I know there are many painful days ahead.

Hi, YaYa!

Happy Thanksgiving, dear friend! As I told you over at my place, I just got home a little while ago after a long and exhausting day of travel and family festivities across the state. It was a pleasure to drop by The Pines and get a glimpse of your family's Thanksgiving. I too wish your mother and sister could have made the trip out from Chicago and that other family members scattered across the country could also have been present at your feast. I'm sure they were all with you in spirit. A little while ago Mrs Shady and I exchanged holiday greetings by phone with her two brothers in San Diego.

That was a marvelous bird on your table. I hope Chubbsie got a taste of it and regret that Eddy wasn't there to catch the falling table scraps. I was happy to see grandkiddos Addy, Summer, Anthony and the others in attendance. Happy birthday to Jack, Jr.!

Thank you for allowing me to experience your family's holiday celebration, YaYa. You are blessed to have them and I am blessed to have you as one of my very best friends.

God bless!

I love getting to experience your incredible family through these posts. So impressed with how organized you are with the Thanksgiving dinner. Lots of happy faces - except for that poor pumpkin of course.

Glad you had a wonderful day with the family. We did, too, but we didn't get to be with Mom and Dick so we are visiting them on Tuesday. Looking forward to it!

Again, it looks like you had a real good time at Thanksgiving. Now it's on for Christmas celebrations is a very short time.

I resumed blog posting on Of Petals and Wool but I'm not sure if you are still in my Bloglovin feed as it appears broken since I put my blog on Private in April.
