PAWZ For A Cause

Yesterday we went over to the fairgrounds to support our local chapter of PAWZ and donate to the Humane Society.  There were pet parades, contests, vendors with lots of cute pet accessories, many of them homemade.   I didn't bring the camera but we did take Chubbs with us.  He was happy for the ride and exploring the fairgrounds and seeing lots of other dogs.   However, one of the reasons we went was so he could get a nice bath from our groomer...the Barker Shop.  We donated toward the Humane Society and poor Chubbs had to pay the price! He's not overly fond of baths.  He would probably have a few choice barks if he were that kind of guy.  But he's a good sport, a kind old soul, and a very good boy.  When we got home he immediately did his ear rubbing ritual.
Rub the ears, roll on the carpet, shake his head...then he was ready for his pose with his new necktie.
Which I took off ASAP after the shot!
He just gave me the look.   Then we had to get ready to go to a birthday party for our Grandson, Cameron.  When we took Chubbs to the car he really didn't want to go!  I was forgiven however when he realized no bathing was in store!   It was fun to celebrate with Cam and see the other kiddos.
He opened gifts...
Blew out a candle on some cheesecake..his favorite dessert..
And took a flying leap into his pool!
His cousin Addy was there to help celebrate.  She's a little fish!
Happy 9th Birthday Cameron! We sure love you!  The weekend weather has been glorious.  The temps were a bit cooler and the humidity was down.  We were even able to open up our windows last night and let in the cool night air.  I love it when I can hear all the night sounds and feel the breezes!  Jack and I sat outside until around midnight looking at the stars in the very clear night sky.  We even saw what I call "shooting stars" but I'm sure they were meteorites.  Whatever they are called,  that always makes me smile when we get to see them.   I wished upon a star, then headed off to bed.  Since I couldn't get a shot of the stars,  I'll end with a pic of a bouquet from the garden...
This weekend went way too fast!  No time to really PAUSE!

Hi, YaYa!

I second that emotion - "Happy 9th Birthday Cameron!" Cam was only 5 when I started following the adventures at Whispering Pines.

You are fine people for supporting PAWZ and donating to the Humane Society. I also want to reiterate that I admire you and Jack tremendously for giving Chubbs a home. What a great life he has there at the Pines, even if he needs to get wet and soapy once in a while. Boy does he remind me of my Toto. Toto hated bath time. As soon as we got her out of the tub and toweled her off she did that same ear rubbing ritual and rolled around on the carpet. If she was let outside she quickly rolled in dead lizards and poop to get the awful stench of shampoo out of her coat. :) Mrs. Shady loved to tie scarves around Toto's neck and dress her in dog clothes, but Toto hated that stuff, too, and couldn't wait until the darn things were removed.

There is something magic about being outdoors on a clear, quiet summer night, gazing up at the heavens and giving thanks for the simple pleasures. How true it is - the best things in life are free.

Look around you, there's a rainbow
In that watermelon sky
And twinkling of a million fireflies
Let your heart keep taking pictures
That we'll share as years go by

These are happy, happy, happy
Summer days (-Ronnie Dove)

Have a wonderful week, dear friend YaYa!

Happy birthday to Cameron. Our weekend was lovely too and they sky was just beautiful. There is an app you can get on your phone that tells you what you are looking at in the sky. Husband has it and it is amazing it shows the space station and any satellites plus all your planets. Your little dog is so sweet and I am sure in the end he is happy to be clean.

Happy birthday Cam! I love his pool party. It's wonderful that Chubbs had a fun weekend too with his PAWZ friends (minus the bath).

My favorite part of this post is the sit-out under the stars. Out at the Pines, you have a clearer view than anything you'd get under city lights. We have to go out to a cornfield here in Iowa!
