Slip Sliding Away

With the wind at it's peak, the leaves were falling fast!  Our color for this Fall season is almost at an end.  We took a few small drives around town and caught some last minute color last weekend.
  Moving on down the road....
So pretty...

This is a lane worth taking a stroll down. More color showed up during the week. I made a special cake for a co-worker's birthday.  She called in sick the day I brought it!
I made one like this last year for a party and thought it would be fun to try again. The next day all that was left was this:
Spooky huh? As this month slips away, pumpkin carving is a must:
Phil and Lexi and Addy (enjoying the pumpkin goo) sliced and diced into jack-o-lantern perfection:
Not all color was orange this week.  A wee bit of tan in the form of an apple pie:
Take a deep breath and enjoy the cinnamon, apple and spice love! Yum! Grab a  camera, take a hike, smell the wet leaves, carve a pumpkin, wear a costume, hand out some goodies, and enjoy this final week of my favorite month!
Goodnight all!

Great job with the carvings. And your baking efforts look awfully yummy. Maybe next weekend I'll try an apple pie. Your leaves look nice and crunchy. Ours have been drowned and are just soggy. I like crunchy

I love fall too, and this one has been beautiful despite the rain. We're looking forward to your grand finale!

Hi, dear YaYa!

I can hardly believe your days of gazing at colorful autumn leaves are already coming to an end. Do you live north of the Arctic Circle? Here in Florida we have enjoyed some nice cool mornings lately but the daytime high always bursts well into the 80s making it uncomfortably warm to stay outdoors for long.

You and your ghoulish Halloween cakes! That one you took to work really got demolished by the next day. Are you sure Eddy didn't crash that party? :)

Those grandkiddos did an excellent job of carving jack-o-lanterns. There's nothing quite like the glow that comes from lighted candles inside those carved out pumpkin creatures. Such fun!

Thank you for triggering fond memories of my youth, dear friend YaYa. Please take good care of yourself and have a wonderful week!

I like the pumpkins! Such pretty leaves too! I remember pretty much when we lived in Montana, the leaves were off the trees very close to Halloween. I bet that apple pie was very delicious!

I think fall is my favorite time of year to read your blog. The colors, the pictures, the aroma of that pie in my head! I think your posts show Ohio falls at their best.

I really enjoyed your last look at the Fall colors.
Too bad the birthday girl missed out on that fabulous looking cake (I notice that didn't stop everybody else from celebrating!) just laughing at the leftover crumbs because that's how it always is when you bring a treat for the office.
What fun for the kiddos to play in the pumpkin mash-up! And I can smell that apple pie - the crust looks really good.

I can always count on you to celebrate with your whole heart. The cake and the apple pie looks yummy. We had a pumpkin growing serendipitously with the squash but someone stole it. So no pumpkin carving this year. I have a plastic one with a light in but I need to dig it out of storage.

The kids are always having so much fun at your place.
Have a spooky good week.
Hugs,
JB

You always have so much fun with Halloween! Love it, love it, love it, through your posts. I put out a couple pumpkins and orange zinnias and called it Halloween. The kids will come anyway :)
