Yep, today we have the calm before the "STORM". It's been predicted for days and you could almost hear the drum roll. Many are being touched by this one. It was suppose to hit around 5...then it changed to 8....then it changed to after midnight. 6-12 inches of snow is predicted. We have had a little bit but I'm going to assume more will come before dawn. We're ready here at the Pines. Wood has been delivered the last 2 days. It was actually ordered back months ago but sure came at the right time! Our son Phil helped load and split and get it ready. However, his little sweeties, Lexi and Addy....or Sprite and Squirt as I call them...wanted to help. So a lesson in splitting was in order.
First it's split...
Then you throw it in the special place we keep it...good helping girls! We are toasty warm here. I took a quick pic this afternoon to document the "before".
The previous snow was melting and grass was visible...but not for long I'm afraid. After work I stopped at the store to get a few necessary items and the place was packed. People getting supplies. I tried to be nonchalant and pretend I wasn't here to stock up because I hadn't prepared for this. A lady in front of me at the check-out was trying to do the same thing. HER:" I always do my shopping on Tuesdays...maybe I should change to a different day.,..look at all these people"..ME:" Yep. You'd think they never heard of a snow storm for crying out loud". At the same time I was trying to hide my cart because it's obvious I was shopping because of a snow storm.
Just essentials...Milk, cereal, taco Tuesday supplies and of course M&M's and Twizzlers....the very survival food you need when a snow storm is coming. There you go..if this storm is coming you now know what you need to stock up on. Hurry, they're going fast! Good luck and I know this post will be continued! Oh, P.S....Squeak our cat is doing just fine now...all better. Meow!

You are TOOOO funny, Kathy!
Gee, so sorry about all the crappy weather up there...I guess that's why we're down here. We lived through all that in Minnesota for decades...then went to Iowa for another 35 years. Had enough!
Good heavens, YaYa! What a winter you're having. Word has it that even the Abominable Snowman who resides in the Creepy Woods is tired of your rotten weather, contemplating a move and has been perusing the Miami Beach classifieds. :)
The weather's much kinder and gentler down here. The temperature has bounced back into the 80s and my only worry is getting sunburned when I walk out to get the mail.
Yessum, it's a dead giveaway that you are power/panic shopping in advance of a storm when you are caught with 500 bags of Jolly Rancher in your cart! :)
I hope your son taught the grandkiddos a thing or two about surviving the winter up there north of the Arctic Circle.
I am very happy to learn that Squeak has recovered from his illness. Thanks for letting us know.
Stay safe and try to stay sane in this latest storm, dear friend. I'll be thinking about you!
Glad that you got the shopping done, so did I. It is coming down fast and thick. Then we will be having freezing rain form this afternoon. Stay safe.
Ha! Ha!...(about the cereal and twizzlers.)...And yep, the same storm is hitting us. 8 to 12 inches predicted. It started earlier this morning than they said, by two hours. Already we have 3 or more inches. I suspect it's gonna be more snow than they think...and ice too!...*sigh*...I gotta go get a few twizzlers and some M&Ms. ^_^ Stay safe and warm, Yaya.
The only thing you are missing in pre-storm essentials is toilet paper! Hahaha P.S. I actually had M&M's and twizzlers for supper Monday night.
Well, it looks like the snow is going to miss us but -30C all week. Again. Yuck. Oh well, bundle up. At least I won't have to shovel.
Good thing your wood arrived in time. You're as ready as you can with the right food survival supplies.
I hope that the storm will miss you.
We're suppose to have 2 to 4 inches of snow.
Stay warm and cosy,
Hugs,
JB
Well, I am just danged jealous is all. Your prep work was much like mine.....only my trip to the store was for dog food. You should have seen the looks I got. Now, I want to see pictures. If I can't have the snow, at least I can have that. Stay warm!
I was out doing stock up shopping as well, but mine didn't look quite that tasty. :) Glad you got that load of wood in, but it looks like the worst of the storm skipped us. I don't understand how we were getting freezing drizzle instead of snow at 23 degrees, but I was standing out in it with the dog, and that was what it was. Yuck!
Hope you were able to get out your long lane.
O.k. Now I have the real scoop of what to stock up should snow hit us. I tend to make and freeze meals for extended weather problems, meals such as meatloaf, lasagna...Having cereal, milk
and yogurt
Oooh.. I nearly bought some Twizzlers yesterday. Just as well that I didn't.. the snow never hit here and I would have eaten them anyway.
I hope you weathered it well.
We had flurries this afternoon, but we've had nothing compared with you all.
I'm betting the plants will be stunning this spring and summer.
Stay warm.
Catching up. I am wondering how it is going for you. The news is so filled with folks without electricity..I am just hoping you are alright..and that you have electricity.
Stay warm and safe.
We're on the tail end of our own storm on this side of the world. We didn't fortify with M&Ms (I wish I'd thought of that) but managed to make do with homemade chili and a warm house. I've been so grateful our power stayed on that nothing else has really mattered. Hope you're all doing well.
