April Endings And Beginnings

I realized this is the last week of April and I thought I'd better do some blogging!  I hope to get to my blog buddies posts tonight too.  I'm happy to report that Jordan and I are healed up and putting this crazy month behind us!  So that's a good ending and then we have a real beginning....My Granddaughter, Driana, was due to deliver our first great grandchild in May but he decided to make an appearance last week! Little Roman James was born April 22nd at 9:02am, weighing 8lbs even.  It was a difficult labor and delivery, and she ended up with a broken tailbone and a bladder issue.  Roman had to go to the NICU for a few days with breathing problems but thankfully Momma and baby were able to go home Saturday.

Lots of dark hair! We'll see if that stays or turns blonde like Mom and Dad!  I'll look forward to getting to see him, but we'll let them get lots of rest and recoup first! The rest of our time has been spent getting the yardwork done and ready for planting of flowers and veggies in a few weeks.  We've had some pretty chilly nights with frost, so I usually wait until after Mother's day to plant flowers and then we usually do the vegetables near Memorial day.  However, we went to our favorite Amish plant nursery to get some raspberry plants, and I couldn't resist just one hanging basket!

All their flowers and plants were so nice, but I'll get more in a few weeks.  Just can't walk out of there without something though!  I still have strawberry jam from last year to use up before putting more up this June and I made a blueberry pie from the last of our frozen berries from our bushes.
It looked much prettier before I cut into it but it tasted delicious anyway! Speaking of the Amish...Jack had taken our big weed whacker to get the leaking gas tank fixed from an Amish gentleman that fixes all kinds of machinery.  We pulled into his place and besides tons of mowers and such, there were many of his children doing chores or helping him.  While I waited one of the kids came out of the barn to check on his little sister who was playing.  I snapped a pic that I thought was so cute of them.
He was so sweet with her!  He picked her up and carried her to the house as we were leaving.  Just made me smile!  Well, I hope your April has been good and I can't believe we're heading into May! Our weather has gone from 30 degrees to 80 and back down again.  We've also had those famous April showers and the flowering trees and bushes have not disappointed us!

Night all!

Hi, YaYa!

I was shocked to review your earlier April posts and learn that while I was away on hiatus you took a nasty tumble on the pavement and hurt yourself. I am very sorry, dear friend. The good news is that you are on the mend. I am also relieved to know that Jord is back on his feet following his alarming illness. And now there is also the good news that grandkiddo Driana had her baby, your first great grandchild, and, after a few unfortunate issues were handled, baby Roman and Driana both went home from the hospital to begin this exciting chapter of their lives. Congratulations to Driana and to your whole family! What a month your clan had!

Our weather has been similar to yours. Mrs. Shady jumped the gun a bit by brining home hanging backets of flowers a week-and-a-half ago. We've had near freezing night since, but they are still looking good. Thank you for sharing pictures of The Pines as it begins to explode with color for the warm weather seasons. Please ship that blueberry pie to me at once! :)

That is indeed a wonderful moment you captured with your camera at the Amish property. How I wish all siblings treated each other so tenderly, and how I wish that all people, young and old, came from courtesy and respect at all times. When it feels so good to behave that way by default, I don't know why more people don't at least try it.

I return Thursday with a new post at Shady's Place and hope you can swing by for a visit. Enjoy the rest of your week and be thankful for each new day, dear friend YaYa!

Thankfully Roman and his mom are doing alright. My daughter Michele was also born on April 22nd, so we have that in common now. Glad both you and Jordan are on the mend now. No planting here until Memorial Day. We might have frost again tonight. My tulips and daffodils are just blooming now. Love the last pic of your garden. Wish I could get into mine...but too early yet up here. Janice

CONGRATULATIONS great GMA (and mom and dad!) Little Roman is adorable. I love all that dark hair. My Jordan was born with a full head of dark hair and it has stayed dark to this day. And 8# is a healthy weight for an early baby! The photo you took of the Amish boy and his sister is precious. Kay said what I immediately thought: It looks like a painting (or should be one!) I would be hesitant to have tried to take a photo given the Amish’s view of photos…but I suppose being in business, they may have relaxed their practices/protocols a bit. I’ve not the slightest bug to do any sort of spring planting yet here. I can’t believe how large your hostas are already! Mine haven’t even poked through the soil yet. Happy (almost) May!
