From this title you might assume I was going to write about bats. And you would be right! We had a bat in the house over the weekend. Jack finally caught it and released it and hopefully that will be the last of the batty news! I haven't posted in a while, and this month is now half over! Official fall starts next week. We have had chilly days and nights these past weeks but no rain. It's very dry and we're hoping for some showers this coming weekend. The temps are in the 80's during the day this week but cool at night. Our county fair is this week, and I know they are loving the sunshine, so I'll be happy for them too! I don't think we'll traverse the fair grounds though. I've been battling a bad back since last Tuesday. I even had to turn down a few days of work because of it. I haven't had any problems with my low back in a while but man this time it's really bugging me! Thankfully I'm married to a wonderful Chiropractor who has all his equipment here since he retired. ( He still sees a few patients here at the house). The hospital asked if I could work this Thursday and hopefully I'll be OK to do that. I'm decorating for fall and will be slowly putting the Halloween things up also. Here's a pic of a couple of friends that I got for next year's family reunion here at the Pines. There was a video of them, but I couldn't get it to load:
They talk and say a lot of things, and I think they will be fun. But putting them together took a bit of time. Taking them apart and getting back in the box probably will too! So, for now they are residing in my living room!
Saturday Jack and the boys worked on our back deck that had some loose and rotting boards.Good job guys! Nice and strong. I have to wait until next year to paint them but since we're having a party here next year, that will work out good. Thanks so much Phil and Jackie for your help! Another project done. The trees are turning colors fast since it's so dry. Our oak tree is sporting a few yellow goodies.

WOW!!! Your mother was absolutely STUNNING! It's so nice you have a photo like that. The only "formal" portrait photos we have of our mother are her wedding photos. I'm hoping to get to Halloween decorations this weekend? At least "some"...each year it gets less sadly. I'm sorry to hear about your lower back pain. I have many back issues but when it's my lower back, I usually know it's the Ankylosing Spondylitis/Psoriatic Arthritis that's the main culprit. I hope you feel better soon - at least in time for your work stint. Your "girls" are cute. If it were me, I'd cover them with a trash bag and call it good when it came time to put them away. Have a good week...we are above-normal warm here too...and dry...very, very, dry.
Hi Yaya! That's a beautiful picture of your mom. Looks like you are getting ready for fall and Halloween and have lots of fun plans to celebrate! Back issues can be so frustrating. Good thing you are married to a chiropractor! I hope you can get some relief. Have a good week. See you again soon!
Your mom was a Greek goddess. Ugh on the bat in the house. Glad Jack was able to get it out. When I first moved into this house I had them in my attic and had to get rid of them. The screen was off and they came in from there, so at night it got covered again and they had to find a new home. Lots of bleach then to clean it up. Love your witches. Tis the season. Janice
So nice to see you post so sorry you have had issues with your back. My husband has dealing with that all summer.
My friend had an old house, and a bad colony had set up house in their tiny attic getting in through a small crack.
Your decorations are amazing for your gathering next year.
Cathy
Oh, what a wonderful photo of your Mom, so pretty. You can call Jack "Batman" now!! LOL!!
I love the spooky outside and all that is autumnal. Your mom was stunning! Hi. I'm Ivy and I found you at Cathy's blog over at Acorn Hollow. Cheers
