Our girl trip adventure took us to a place i was reallt looking forward to.
I would ask for guesses as to the destination but I already mentioned it before. Salem, Massachusetts was on the list and we checked it off! This is a statue to Elizabeth Montgomery who played Samantha in the TV series Bewitched. However,Salem is a town full of history that isn't all about witches. The witch trials are an unfortunate part of the town's past but we took a tour that gave us a good Salem history lesson. It's a mariner town and the people here are very proud of that.
So sad.I enjoyed taking a quiet walk through this cemetery that had graves that date back to the Mayflower. As my niece, Amy, walked by the grave of the judge who sentenced the innocent to death, her ankle starting hurting and sheThey have beautiful harbors. The ship in the background is being refurbished. It's 400yrs old. But what most of the tourist here are looking for is the witch history lesson. Salem brings in the curious and odd from all over to hear the stories of how gossip, speculation, and total untrue accusations brought terror and death to the innocent.
The witch memorial and cemetery was a humbling, almost spiritual experience. had trouble walking. Once past his grave she
felt fine. Hmmm..I report, you decide. Besides this part of Salem the movie Hocus Pocus has a fan base with houses that were used in making the movie.
If you've watched the movie you know this house. Any guesses? Very pretty in real life. We left Salem with a better understanding of this part of American history, some cute souvenirs, a yummy lunch on the harbor and a very bewitching day!

Looks like a great trip. You sure visited some interesting places. I have taught "The Crucible" for years and I would sure like to visit that cemetery. So glad your summer is going well. See you again soon!
Yep I know that house from Hocus Pocus. How wonderful they are refurbishing that ship. Your niece's ankle was not a coincidence to me...but I do believe in ghosts. I do I do I do. Janice
Hi, YaYa!
Once again, the pictures you took on this leg of the journey are excellent. It would indeed cast a spell of sadness to take a stroll through that cemetery knowing the story behind the Salem witch trials and their gruesome outcomes. I love the picture of the boats, and that is a bewitchingly accurate likeness of Elizabeth Montgomery who departed this world more than 30 years ago. Bet you wish you could borrow (or swipe) that statue and display it on your porch this Halloween.
Hope Jack and Jord are taking good care of Annabelle back home. I wish you continued safe travels as you proceed toward Maine, dear friend YaYa!
Have I said previously that I'm green with envy? Yeah, I know it is entirely commercialized, but the history is there if one wants to look...and I'd want to look for very personal reasons. Not sure which judge's grave you are referring to as I'm not certain which cemetery you were at - Old Burying Point/Charter St (then I'd guess Hathorne) or Broad Street (then I'd guess Corwin) or??? Those were the 2 judges most involved with my grandmother's conviction so are the ones with whom I'm most familiar. And that just has to be Allison's house!!!! LOL Safe travels!! (If you're not already home!)
WE too enjoyed that trip. You pointed out some spots we missed. Love ya! take care and be cool!
Lovely photos, Yaya! Bewitched was one of my favourite TV shows growing up! (I was born in Montreal in 1956), and still live here in Canada! Elizabeth Montgomery was a fine actress and the entire cast on that show were great! Aunt Clara, Uncle Arthur, Dr. Bombay, and Samantha's parents were all a hoot!
Thank you so much for sharing your photos and for the memories and joy they invoked.
