The Color Purple

I don't want to gross anyone out...so feel free to pass this post by!  My blog is also a journal for me. With that in mind I wanted to grab a pic of my lovely bruising.  This is my worst leg and this actually looks better than the other day.  I've gotten into a routine. Jack and I get up together at the same time I always got ready for work.  I've been going up and down stairs since I got home last week, but never alone. Once I'm down stairs I'm here for the day. PT had me using just a cane today...slowly moving forward. I see the surgeon on Thursday so he can remove the 35 or more staples per leg. So I'm hoping to sleep through the night one day and walk unassisted...sort of like being reborn! Except for these ugly specimens! I hope purple is in this Winter.

Wow that is a lot of staples times 2 legs. It seems like you have a good routine for your days. I hsd heard it was harder to recover from knee replacements versus hips, but I am not sure if that is true, but I bet one day you will be mobile again, up and running so to speak.

Wow, that looks bad (and painful). I am eternally grateful you didn't show the staples. Ewwww. Good luck at the doctor

Hi, dear YaYa! I was gonna say that purple is the new black but that doesn't sound very good either. Thank you for having the courage to show us your bruised legs. I am happy to know that you will be getting the staples removed in a couple of days. Every little bit of progress that you make should buoy your spirits. Healing takes time and I know you yearn for your freedom and independence and walks in the Creepy Woods. You'll be out and about and feeling 100% again in no time, I'm certain of it. Just obey the doctor's orders and you'll be fine. My thoughts and prayers are always with you, dear friend YaYa!

very lovely! Not as bruised up as I would have thought, but then it's been a week so it should have done some healing by now. Glad you are up and getting around, you will be running in no time.

Stop you big whiney baby. I've had deeper wounds playing with my cat :)
Just kidding. Everyone was being so kind and supportive I just had to be the one naysayer:)
Actually I whine like a baby when I get my teeth cleaned :)
Take care Yaya.

Ouch! Purple was one of my favorite colors until I saw that. And I'm sure it looks even worse on your actual knee. You're a brave girl to be going up and down those stairs.

We'll continue to keep you in our prayers.

You really look like you've been beaten up by a back ally bully. I hope this is normal when you get such big operations. It probably will all disappear very shortly and you won't be able to gross us out anymore.

Unlike Kim, I don't mind looking at the stitches or even before the stitching. I see more gruesome stuff at the farm. I once assisted the vet when he was operating on a standing cow to deliver a calf. I've assisted at hundreds of calf birth some very difficult.

Maybe I should have been an OR nurse. lol...
Get well soon. Hugs,
JB

Now, just remember you are in the early stages, you WILL heal and get better!! Take care and make everyone wait on YOU for a change! LOL.

I hope that you recover and be active again soon enough. Meanwhile get as much TLC as is given to you. Let every one fuss around. You need it and deserve it. Hugs.

It was amazing how long it took Kayla to heal her knee, and you have double the work. Sounds like you are a trooper.

Goodness, looks like the surgeon sure beat you up a bit, but sure glad to hear you're getting around.

Ouchies! That looks so tender. And your recovery sounds difficult but steady. I hope that once the extras are removed you'll get back to your usual routines a lot faster.

Now fess up.. did you shave your legs just for the photos? ;)
