House Hermit

I'm sure everyone is tired of us northerners whining about the freezing cold and snow. Actually, I'm tired of us northerners whining about it!  I notice that the south is getting hit too.  I won't say I smiled or smirked or even felt a bit redeemed..you know.."Well, now they understand how it is" feeling.  Seriously, I won't say it..out loud.  Frankly, this is just the way it is and it is Winter and if we don't like it, then move! (not south because we all know it's cold down there too..hehehe..oh, sorry)  I welcomed the weekend with open arms.  Last week was busy at work and I was beat by Friday night.  Saturday the weather was nasty.  You can't tell by this photo, but it was almost white out conditions off and on all day.
I was nervous about it because Jack had a seminar in Columbus all day and he left around 6:30am.  I was happy when he called to say he arrived but I knew it would be worse coming home.  And it was!  Thankfully all went well and his little Jeep got him there and back...thank goodness for 4 wheel drive!  I, on the other hand, never  left the house Saturday!  I did the usual stay at home things...like make breakfast for these 2 little monkeys!
Notice the candlelight? It looks lighter in the kitchen then it really was. Lexi wanted all the lights out so we could really enjoy the ambiance! The menu request was pancakes, waffles, bacon and smoothies....and they were pretty tasty!  Later in the morning the girls headed out to visit their other Grandma and I cleaned and read and looked outdoors to see if a swim in the pool would be nice....kidding!
It's just one big icecube! Brrrr...
Grabbing a chair and sitting on the deck was out too! Yes, those are my herbs still in the pots from Summer....please don't judge!  I did make the house smell really yummy with an apple crisp baking in the oven.
Jack appreciated it when he came home!
I took this pic, not because the sky is blue..which is rare around here, but because it was this light out at 5:30pm! Yes folks, the days are getting brighter, later! I notice in the morning it's a teensy bit lighter too.  Hope springs eternal!  January only has a few days left....whew.  Today I'm home for a low census day and it makes my weekend a little longer.  I'm not complaining about that.  The temps will rise to 10de. but even with that heat wave, school was closed.  I may actually leave the house...perhaps take Eddy to the Creepy Woods....but he seems content to stay close to home and play with is toys.
Yes, YaYa, these are mine and I have them lined up the way I like 'em!  So back off!

Hahaha, does he always line up his toys? too cute. Yeah, sick of the cold here too. Last night was just bitter with the wind. How many days until Spring??

brrrr.... it was cold in the south last week, 65 degrees the last 2 days and telling us snow tonite. So I almost know how you are feeling. Except it's just a big fat mess for us. Not enough snow to really play in and actually not any clothes to wear out in it. Your cute little company looks very content in the cold. And Eddy is always cute.

Hi, YaYa! I can almost feel the cold coming off your pictures. Those images bring back fond memories for me because I used to love deep snows when I was a kid. I'd sit for hours looking out the window on a school night cheering every flake that fell knowing it brought me one step closer to a snow vacation day.

It's interesting how Lexi wanted to dine by candlelight. She's learning at an early age how to turn ordinary experiences into special occasions.

That pool looks mighty tempting! Why don't you organize an Ashland chapter of the Polar Bear Club and invite the whole community to join you for a frosty dip! :)

Bless Eddy's heart! I can just hear him growling while playing tug of war with his assortment of toys. Does he have a miniature sasquatch? :) Be careful if you take him out to pee in the Creepy Woods. Leave a trail of bread crumbs to find your way back home. :)

Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend YaYa!

Don't you just love winter?! ^_^ I'm sure my friends and relatives down in Georgia are saying the same thing right about now. LOL NOT!!!! By the way, loved the ambiance idea, with candlelight and pancakes. I may steal that this coming Sunday! ^_^

Does he line them up like that. Piper puts his all at the back door.
It is so cold in Ohio.....brrrrrr.
I like the candlelight breakfast.
Stay warm and cozy.

The girls are just too cute... having a candlelight breakfast. God love 'em... You're the best Yaya.

I'm getting tired of being cold and the cost of heating this big house in the winter. We are having rain now and the barnyard has turned to ice once again.

I'm glad that you could stay home and cook that nice apple crisp for Jack. It looks yummy and I can almost smell it.

I think that Eddy is asking himself, why you lined up his toys like that, hahaha...
Stay warm and dry.
Hugs,
JB

With the wind chill here today? -45C. All day! The buses didn't run. I didn't even try to start a vehicle, and the one in the garage is blocked in with 3 foot tall, very solid drift of snow. So, of course, it was wonderful. Blogged, and read tons of blogs, played hide and seek with the kids, did some cooking, doodling, reading, napped with the dog. No complaints here. That all being said, I really miss green grass.

we are getting your extreme cold tomorrow and wed. We have had enough extreme cold so I would love it if you could keep it there. We have had the snow and the wind is blowing tonight. I am very happy for the beast in the basement

At 19 degrees here tonight, I do not envy you one bit. Although I would love your summer and fall, I think. Your pics are always good and especially of those little munchkins. That is the sam menu at our house when the kids are here, but I may need to add the candles. Love it!

Stay warm. That anole crisp looks so delicious, I can almost taste it.

How cute lining the toys like that.
It is cold here in New York too. I can't wait for spring.

I vote for pictures from the Creepy Woods! I love your snow. I'm sure you do get tired of it, we aren't as blessed here in the South to have snow very often. But come tomorrow, we will be experiencing possibly freezing rain and ice, and later snow. Love the snow, the ice...not so much.

haha Yes apparently even we may be getting some snow tonight. We'll see though! It's weird because it was so warm today I had the door open, and then to say we're getting snow? Weird weather! By the way, that apple crisp looks amazing. Again, your blog always makes me hungry!

I've been noticing the change in light also.. it's got a way to go but it is indeed encouraging in this very cold winter.

The candlelight brekkie is just adorable as is the lined up toys. Everyone around you has your sense of whimsy.

If I were you I'd be whining, too. Totally whining!

=)

PS. My sister's grandson does that lining up thing, too. So cute.

I will be honest. I don't like being stuck inside, I want to be walking over one of my mountains!
Oh well, our snow won't last long, that's why Georgia is so nice! :-)
