The venue was so pretty.
This cake was beautiful but also very yummy!
We wish these lovebirds much health and happiness! Now I'll get to the castle part. Shawn's parents built this place called: Landoll's Mohican Castle.
As you walk around the grounds, you can see the many lovely cabins, statues, fountains, and sitting areas like this one:
What a great place to sit and enjoy the view. It's very hilly in this part of Ohio. The road to the castle winds and turns through the Mohican State Park and the Mohican river where you'll find lots of tourists enjoying a canoe trip.
Here's an example of a fountain on the property.
Jack can make friends no matter where he goes! After the party was over, Shawn invited us to see the cabin he is building just down the road from the castle. He and his wife live near there too and had these 5 acres just itching for a retreat.
I think this is really more than just a "cabin"..it's really going to be a great place to hang out and enjoy nature and peace and quiet.
This balcony over looks the property.
This view will be stunning come fall! And that's not far off! I'll be excited to see the completed project and of course I'll have to blog and share it with you!

Oh, what a beautiful post.
That Jack, he must keep you laughing all the time!
Hello, dear YaYa! Allow me to add my congratulations to the happy couple, Cathy and Steve! I vividly recall my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. I flew back to York for it. It was a surprise party but my dad was in on it. My mother was the only one kept in the dark. We told her we were taking her out to dinner and when we got to the restaurant, a large banquet hall had been rented and my mother's three sisters and their families were all there to converge on her and holler "Surprise!" when we walked in the door. She was so stunned that she lost her balance and fell back against a wall! (LOL) She was unhurt but totally overwhelmed and grateful.
I can't get over that Mohican Castle. That's my kind of place! I love hills, pathways carved through the woods, fountains and areas where you can sit down and rest and take in the scenery.
I especially miss hills, YaYa. The only hills I see down here are inhabited by fire ants.
I think that T-Rex was whispering to Jack that he needs a spinal manipulation! :)
I also love that cabin and agree that it will make a wonderful retreat where you can gaze at the colored leaves a few weeks from now. I envy you folks!
Have a terrific week, dear friend YaYa!
Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary to the lovely couple. Wow, that castle and the grounds are very impressive and I love that there's no lawn to mow. It looks like a fun place to be.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
JB
Steve and Cathy are a wonderful couple. I missed the t-rex. was it at the castle or the cabin?
Wow, what an amazing place. I'd love to roam around there exploring. Love Jacks new friend too ;)
Oh that castle is so interesting and the younger couple's new digs will be awesome. Did Cathy and Steve marry as toddlers? They are the youngest looking couple I've ever seen celebrating their golden anniversary. Or maybe I'm just getting old. Congrats to the two of them. And your Jack is such a hoot.
Best pic is Jack...lol!
Wow - they must have enjoyed their 50 years because they look so young still!
That castle is magnificent. I'd like to sit there with a book and let the world go hang.
They don't look old enough to have been married 50 years! Congratulations to them!
Happy 50 anniversary to the happy couple.
and what a home.
Cathy
Congratulations Cathy and Steve!! :-) I always like to encourage 'young' love!...And YAY!...to Jack for always keeping his head in the right place! ^_^ And I don't mean 'in a dinosaur's mouth'! I mean 'always giving Yaya a good photo to blog about! ^_^ Hubby's are good like that! LOL
What a beautiful place for a cabin! And the castle was amazing... The anniversary party looked to be a complete success - good food and good company are a winning combination!

HI-ya. I wandered over from Maggie's blog to say hello.
Hello.
What an awesome place to celebrate a 50th anniversary. (or anything else!) Listen, my hubby and I just celebrated our 44th a few months ago; if I sign on as your newest follower, think you could get us into that place to celebrate OUR 50th? No, huh? Okay, no problem. Count me in as your newest groupie, anyway. Nice to meetcha.
Congratulations to Cathy and Steve. God Bless them.
I like the different spots in that castle.
Your hubby is very jovial indeed.
Your posts are awesome and have hope and fun in them. Thanks.
Congrats to the happy couple.
That Jack is such a funny guy !
Shaun's cabin look like a great getaway.
Yaya I kept wondering why you were't showing up in my reading list and after all this time I thought I was one of your followers ...and I hand't joined ~ duh Well I fixed that just now... can"t miss posts of one of my fav gals !
Wow how pretty! Sandy said they had a fun time at the party, too.
Shawn is an excellent chef, but that's high praise coming from you, Yaya! Your cooking is legendary around Ashland! Breakfast at your house is a real treat! ;) PS, the party was really delightful! Steve and Cathy, I hope you have many more years together!
I love your photos! What a fun afternoon we had. It was great to see you and other Ashland friends.
I guess I will run into you or Jack tomorrow morning at the leadership meeting in Tallmadge.
Hugs!
