Schools out...time for some adventure. My husband is one of 4 leaders in our Boy Scout troop who's going on a high adventure trip with the troop. This trip has been discussed for a year now...plans made and carried out. They're going to float down the Ohio river on rafts constructed by the boys and leaders. I did not see the rafts until these pics Jack took last week. (No, I'm not nervous about it) He's been excited by this outing/fishing trip/camping/guys just hanging out laughing and relaxing/teaching scout skills (notice I put the teaching skills part last) since they concocted this idea last year. The weather is cooperating, the rafts are done, the totes are packed, the steaks are in the cooler...I guess it's a go. If you see Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn tell them Troop 555 is ready...and may the force be with them. Sorry, wrong movie.
Here's an inside shot of the leader's raft...keep in mind the comfy chairs.
Inside shot of the boys raft.
I'm not really nervous about all this...really...I always check on my husband's insurance policies. These rafts look sturdy..right? Hey guys, don't for get the paddles.

I'm glad it's finally here. I've heard nothing but rafts for the last few weeks. Kyle laid looking at me last night doing his check of list. I have stuff all over the kitchen...but I'm glad they are going and I too am not worried. They will do great. Better I think than the hike in the Appilachans.
They'll be having great adventures, even if they have to hone up some other outdoor skill to eat well, to stay warm, to manage the outdoors.
How far are they going? Don't worry old finn did ok.

It looks like the big boys are finally realizing their childhood dreams of rafting on the big river... Good luck to them and I hope that the weather will be clement for them.
I'm sure that you hubby will love to return to his comfy bed at home after this adventure. Take care Cathy and tell Donna that I'm thinking and praying for her until she no longer needs my prayers. JB
I hope they take a camera to record their adventure. What a great time they are gonna have and they'll come back with stories to last a lifetime...And you can get your "party on" while they're away.
Everyone is a winner in this story.
Wish my hubby could go. This is right up his alley!
=)
I'm pretty certain Huck didn't have those comfy chairs on his raft. :) I hope that the wind doesn't catch the boys' raft on the way to the river--kinda looks like they might end up parasailing instead of floating.
I'm sure it will be a great time by all and I'm looking forward to the pictures of the trip.
This is wonderful that they re having this adventure in Boy's Scouts. I hope that every one knows how to swim and I wish them all a cooperative weather.
I am glad that Donna is doing good.
I'm worried enough for ALL of us!! God bless 'em!!
I hope he takes a camera along with him!
OH my what an adventure. I hope they have the best of time which I am sure they will.
They went to a lot of trouble building their rafts. I am happy for them.
I have not checked to see if you entered my giveaway. You still have time.
Love ya
Maggie
You are right! You have a most wonderful family! What an interesting project. Be sure and show us when it is finished. :)
wow, tell them to write daily journals! this is an experience of a lifetime!
Those rafts look fabulous. What a great scouting excursion! I just know how excited those kids must be, to say nothing about Jack. I hope the weather will be good for them and also hope they take lots of pictures.
What an ambitious endeavor!!! Count me in.... when you can enclose it, and add some air conditioning and cable hook up. OH, and running water for a shower and probably a stove and refrigerator. Yeah, count me in!
Those guys are brave!
