This winter has been a change from the mild ones we've had. It's more like winters of the past. Our church social was canceled last night when it was going from rain to ice. Then this morning we got about 4 or 5in of snow at a fast pace. We did go to church. We only live just down the road but some others are much farther. Only 22 folks showed up and when we were at a level 2 alert, we headed home. It's been a quiet, snowy, cozy day.
The bird feeder has been busy. Look close, do you see the little red dot? Hello Mr. Cardinal! All white again.
Even little fences seem pretty. I know this weekend has been a crazy weather time for many. Stay safe and warm!
It's Febbrrrrary after all.

Hi, YaYa!
Thanks for giving us an update on weather developments in your neck of the woods, dear friend. Those pictures are fabulous! Your property has been transformed into a winter wonderland. It's time for you, Annabelle and the Yeti to get busy building a snowman. Over the last few days, our four inches of snow melted away due to steady rain and daily high temps in the 40s. Tonight, we are under a high wind warning, with winds in the 25 to 35 mph range with gusts of 50 to 60 mph. This certainly has been more like the winters of yesteryear. It was great to see that picture of the red cardinal against the snow white backdrop. Coincidentally, I was looking out the window a few hours ago and saw a bright red cardinal in our backyard. I scattered corn and seed out there a week or so ago and attracted 5 deer close to the house along with a flock of geese. I love the assortment of wildlife we have up here which also includes rabbits, foxes and turkeys.
Stay warm and watch your step when walking on those icy surfaces, dear friend YaYa. I'll see you around March 9 when I return with my next post at Shady's Place!
Good for you for getting out and going to church! We got some snow yesterday, but then the snow turned to rain and now most of the snow is gone. We do have quite a bit up in the mountains. Stay safe and warm in the coming week. Spring is coming!!
All weekend we went from snow to freezing rain, more snow, freezing rain and again more snow. Just weird. In total now we have 7 inches. Would have been more if all snow. Just glad I did not have to drive in it. It is pretty to look at and I did enjoy watching the cardinals and bluejays. Janice
We’re experiencing a brutal winter here in Saskatchewan this year too. Minus 40 this morning! How much longer until spring?!
Such pretty pictures - even if they're all white LOL. I especially love the one with the cardinal...and, of course, all-bundled-up you. It's so strange to read about all these people talking about rain and ice. Here, we're too cold to even remember what rain is. We've had some good dumps of snow too...10" here, 7" there, 2" in between, etc. so it adds up. I think we're supposed to get into the 20's by the end of the week. It will feel like a heat wave. ~Robin~
