Some Weeks Are Killers

This week has been so tiring! I think I  took a bit more on than I could chew...or bake!  I signed on to help with a bake sale at church and getting all that done along with working, taking call, having our church youth group over on Sunday after a church Christmas social on Saturday was way over my limit.  Did I mention that Jack and I head out to Chicago tomorrow for our Christmas with my Mom and family?  There's things to do to get ready for that too!  What was the frosting on this sugar cookie week?  Chubbs got really sick on Sunday night.  So sick we thought he wouldn't make it.  I had to stay home with him on Monday until I could get him to the vet.  We were bracing ourselves for the worst.  We didn't know if he had a stroke, seizure, or what.  He wasn't able to walk as his back legs would hardly hold him up.  After looking at his blood work the Vet thought he could possibly have a tumor on his spleen because Chubbs was so anemic.  He also has an enlarged heart and an old fracture on his hip.  Then throw in an infection...he was a sick little guy.   Looking at the x-rays we were able to rule out any tumors so he was put on an antibiotic, pain meds and a wing and a prayer!  Thankfully he's made a full recovery and back to his old self.  We are so happy that we can take him with us for the weekend and he can meet our family.
He's got his Christmas scarf on and is ready to rock!  One last thing I almost forgot.  Guess who has poison ivy?  Me!  That nasty black walnut tree had it's last laugh on me alright.  I stupidly picked up a few branches forgetting about the vines twisted around them...poison ivy vines.  I'm usually not too reactive to poison ivy but this time I've got it on my face, arms and chest...just shoot me....or atleast pass the calamine lotion please!  HOHOHO...dang tree.

Wow, you've gone through all that and you are still going to fly off to Chicago to be with your mother! I think that's wonderful and I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

My heart stopped for a minute about Chubbs; so glad he did make a complete recovery! Ouch with the poison ivy; that will be a story to tell in future Decembers when it is snow covered and everyone will remember the year you got poison ivy a week before Christmas! Safe travels to your mom's! Merry Christmas!

Oh, my goodness, YaYa! I don't know where to begin except to say that I am very sorry you had such a trying week. It would have been a crushing blow if you had lost Chubbs so soon after offering him a forever home. If I had known the little guy was sick I would have been praying for him 24-7. I am very happy to know he is recovering and can make the trip to Chi-town with you. That picture of him is just the cutest!

I am also terribly sorry to learn that you came down with a case of poison ivy. Believe me, I've been there and know how miserable you must be feeling. When I was a boy I had some terrible bouts of poison ivy. I used to get it all over me just from being exposed to the smoke from brush fires.

Your work is done and the battles won. Now it's time for you to slow the pace down and enjoy some time in Chicago with your mother. I hope you take lots of pictures to share here on your blog. Please drive safely. God bless you, YaYa!

Oh boy, what a week you had... I'm glad that Chub is better. I hate to see an animal get sick. They can't tell you what's wrong.
About that poison ivy, or poison oak, that's nasty stuff. In the summer you could rub the juice of Jewel weed to neutralize the toxin but the plants won't be back till early summer. I hope that your itch has calmed down.

I hope that you'll take time to slow down. Coming from me, it's like the stove calling the kettle black... lol.
Wishing you a Merry and Peaceful Christmas.
Hugs
JB

Oh poor Chubs. So glad he is feeling better and no tumors where found. It is so scary when they are sick and you have to play the guessing game. Have a safe trip and a very Merry Christmas. Sorry about the poison ivy too. Better ask Santa for some more calamine lotion ;)

Oh my.. I'm so glad that Chubbs is on the road to recovery. My heart stopped whilst reading about him. My cousin just lost her beautiful Labradoodle of 15 years to a tumour on the spleen. I'm glad that wasn't the case for your sweetie.

I hope you heal quickly. You must be mighty uncomfortable.

Despite it all, I hope that you and yours have a wonderful Christmas. Hugs to you.

Oh. My. Goodness! Such a week you've had with all the baking and partying and your poor little Chubbs. And now the poison ivy! I'm so happy to hear Chubbs is back to his old self and hope your calamine lotion will be the cure. Have a great time with your mom and family.

I suspect your mother and I are close in age. I love the little tiny ones...so much!! And this next year we will have another born in March...it's just plain wonderful.
My children feel the same when they all get together...what a great time of year it can be...and also very sad. I've had both.
Big hugs and Merry Christmas, Yaya.
