Pumpkins and Ed...Totally Unrelated Post

I have a Halloween decoration that's a spider...it's made out of wrought iron and you put a pumpkin on it and it looks like a spider...or a pumpkin with eight legs..whatever. Anyway, I always put a scary face on the pumpkin, but after Halloween is over I turn it around so you can't see the face and leave it until Thanksgiving.  Hey, I'm thrifty...so sue me.  This morning I was coming downstairs and looked out the window that's on the side of the front door.  I saw this number:
Ha! You can't see this from the front but it looks like this guy is really, really mad...first off he used to be a white pumpkin but has turned orange and also he's very frost bit because it was a zillion degrees below normal this past week.  You can also see the snow  that hadn't melted yet this morning.  All in all, I think this guy has a right to look mad.  I hate to tell him this, but in a few days...on Thanksgiving...we have a pumpkin shoot out with bows and arrows.  We use the pumpkins left over from our Fall decorating and shoot the snot out of them and then toss them in the creek for the deer or any other critters to munch on.  It's tough being a pumpkin at the Pines. On another note, Eddy came for a visit last week and Jack and I took him for a trot in the Creepy Woods.
Yes Eddy, we're coming right behind you.  Always on the look out for anything out of the ordinary he first looks right:
Then left:
Then he declares it OK:
So off we go for a walk to his favorite haunts...then he heads for home:
Come on folks....the sun is setting....my feet are cold...yes, we all lead exciting lives here at Whispering Pines. Glad you could join us!

Hi, YaYa! You must really be having a deep freeze up there. Our temperatures are rebounding to daily highs of 80 and above. Wish you were here!

I am overjoyed to see my old buddy Eddy again and to have proof that he went sniffing through the Creepy Woods. These pictures remind me of that old hit song "I've Looked at Eddy from Both Sides Now." :)

I hope this isn't the start of a tough winter for you guys. Bundle up and watch your step on icy surfaces. Thank you very much for sharing pics of Eddy, dear friend YaYa, and enjoy the rest of your weekend. God bless!

A super post - as always. I love the snowy ground (and Eddy of course)but hope it doesn't mean it's going to be a hard winter for you.
And I agree with Betty - I'd love to watch, or take part in, the pumpkin shoot.

Your pumpkin looks like he's freezing...I would be mad too! I've always wanted one of those wrought iron pumpkin spider holders!
I can't believe how much snow you guys have already had. When I'm feeling down about not getting to live near my family...I will try and remember that you guys almost always get more snow than we do here in PA. :)
Happy Thanksgiving!

Scary looking pumpkin. Why is he so upset and angry? Next year draw a smile and maybe we'll have better weather.

Good thing Eddy looks happy with the snow.

Keep warm and out of trouble.
Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy family time on this holiday.
Hugs,
JB

Oj, you're still walking with all that snow...
I guess you get used to it; and, you dress for it. I do not own snow gear of any sort, so just the idea of slipping and sliding worries me.
Stay warm and safe.
Enjoy the holidays.

Love the last photo of Ed and the sunset. Beautiful. We capture such beauty when we least expect it. We had the snow here and now it's gone. However we are getting one wicked wind storm here. Nasty. Sounds like the roof is coming off. Yes I love condo living with no snow to shovel. WIth health issues this is just where I need to be. If you do read Liz's book or get it for your grandaughter you'll love it. Hope all is well with you and yours. Hang onto your hat if you are having this wind. Hugs, Barb
