We're having one of the coldest winters in memory, and snowiest. I left North Idaho to get away from this. It's beautiful but because we're not prepared to deal with it in the Pacific Northwest, everything pretty much comes to a standstill. Snow days as a retired person are a double treat!Deb Shuckahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03439395710731341021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1948073544976029742.post-6308146025929826122017-01-11T23:07:40.999-05:002017-01-11T23:07:40.999-05:00Cold, snow, icy conditions on the road - I think t...Cold, snow, icy conditions on the road - I think that is the condition everywhere.Haddockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11573906991666088642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1948073544976029742.post-71434787383362258542017-01-10T19:14:17.469-05:002017-01-10T19:14:17.469-05:00Jilda makes a soup like that and I love it. I didn't see either one of mine. I probably would have passed out. We have had snow on the ground since Friday which is unheard of, but we're loving it. We have the heater, space heater and fireplace going.Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03345186800478791621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1948073544976029742.post-66137526764919152992017-01-09T07:17:57.032-05:002017-01-09T07:17:57.032-05:00I hope Jack takes his own advice and heals quickly...I hope Jack takes his own advice and heals quickly. That pot of soup looks delicious. It's been cold here too and i had to warm my feet in a bucket of hot water at the barn this morning. It was that cole.-21°C. or --5.8°F.

I made some squash soup and it was wonderful for this time of year. I'm having some for lunch again.
Stay warm and safe.
HUgs,
JuliaJuliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03423754263165266554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1948073544976029742.post-53968767466181521512017-01-09T06:30:00.412-05:002017-01-09T06:30:00.412-05:00That soup looks a real winter warmer. Tim's best buy this winter has been an electric log splitter - we'll still need my son-in-law to help split the biggest logs with an axe, but it takes care of most of them and has been brilliant, and very easy on the back. They come when they want to come, but they are always welcome, no matter what time of the day it might be.

Do stay warm!

bettybettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06323135450742337670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1948073544976029742.post-72509689329879475082017-01-08T22:06:42.449-05:002017-01-08T22:06:42.449-05:00Hi, YaYa!

Last night the temp bottomed out at 37 and it is very cold again tonight. We are running the heat instead of the air conditioner for a change. I know you guys must be experiencing brutal cold up there. May I assume that you didn't gather the grandkiddos, bore a hole in the swimming pool ice and stage a Polar Bear Club challenge? :)

I'm sorry you were on call when the roads were treacherous and very sorry you needed to run back in to work on only four hours of sleep. That must have been a tough day. I'm also sorry to learn that Jack hurt his back splitting logs. It was nice of Jord to come to the rescue. I only wish Eddy the wonder dog could have been there to help, too.

I just read your soup recipe aloud to Mrs. Shady. She loves to make soup and will remember your concoction and hopefully make it for our dinner one of these chilly winter days.

I wish Jack a speedy recovery and I wish both of you a safe and happy week ahead, dear friend YaYa!Shady Del Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03839935472941264414noreply@blogger.com
